The 9k one is 2wd only. I think 11k is the cheapest 4wd one.
Cheapest 4WD model on the configurator is Ambiance dCi110 4x4 at £13495 and that DOESNT include aircon - nowhere near the figure mentioned!!!
If you select a petrol engine, you get the choice of 'Access 4x4' spec.

Wrong.

Cheapest 4x4 is the petrol model in Access trim. Which is £10,995.

Not sure on space or boot room. But a Wrangler Unlimited is a much better vehicle period and will likely retain it's money better too. The only downer is used vs new.
The boot isn't huge and is a pain to use because the spare is mounted on the lower door and gets in the way of the upper glass. I also don't think you can easily use a roofrack because of the removable roof sections.

Anyway back on thread... It sounds ace, but possibly Dacia are ruining the charm element by trying to bring it up to date.

I like these... although the tailgate design is a bit ugly. Bit of a Lada Niva vibe.

That's still probably only mid-range Ford Fiesta price.

How big inside are they? Would they take me and 4 growing kids in comfort and still fit all the camping gear in the back?

My current E36 will only take me and 3 kids as the boot and the rest of the space in the car is taken up with all the kit as well as one of those roof boxes, and I still didn't bring enough stuff biggrin

Was thinking of the 4 door Wrangler as they are down to around £12k with no air con.
I posted this a while back, in another topic:

I lived in northern Sweden, on the border with Norway, for the past 5 years, it is a very cold area with even -40 °. Below zero for 6 months and 7 months of snow. Now I have finally taken the Dacia Duster 4x4 1.5 TDI 110CV Laureate with different options (not all), tow bar, heating, etc. Here, by law, we have to mount studded tires from the first snowfall until at least the middle of April or when the roads will be cleaned from the ice.

I took it yesterday. So I've tried to make a nice little trip today, with the family. We went to test the offroad talents. I did not want to risk anything, everything here is very isolated and you do not always have phone coverage. I got cautious. This is my first 4x4.
I am very happy indeed, we are very happy. The car is comfy, quiet and with a brilliant engine. I really like the transmission and suspension. Now it is snowing, so I'll try it better tomorrow, because today was all ultra cold and unpleasant (-10 °).

Here it is: biggrin

The space an comfort are fine, better than my old Kangoo. You can put even 3 adults in the back, and the boot is big.

Great post. Nicec to see a Duster in action. A Young funky Nordic family with a Duster. You should be in their advertising campaign. smile

It depends on where you are coming from though, if you were to ask a romanian farmer about the ride comfort in one - he would probably say it has a Maybach ride quality.

For us normal people used to driving modern cars, they are both very uncomfortable and more than half an hour on the M6 in either would probably give me a headache. The Jimny is a little bit better, but only just.
If you read some reviews of the Neva yes they say its old fashioned but quieter than it used to be and comfortable at motorway speeds. Yes it wont be as good on teh road I imagine but it is extremely capable off road.

Buy Dacia Duster £10,000 with 3 year full warranty and 6 years anti-corrosion warranty.

Keep it 5 years 60,000 miles

That's £2,000 a year (or 17p a mile plus fuel etc) even if you had a worthless wreck at the end.

Bargain new car motoring!

Its amazing what you can get used to though. After years of BMW, Porsche and Discovery 3, I have had to drive a knackered ancient VW Transporter almost overloaded with equipment up and down the country.

At first I missed the speed and precise handling of my cars but very quickly I actually started to enjoy driving it. I especially like having to seek out the elevation of the land over the next mile or so when contemplating overtakes.

I'm guessing they mean "very good offroad" compared to most soft-roaders. It's not going to trouble a Defender.
I beg to differ.

Have fond memories of the original Dacia Duster (and Dacia 1300s and the bizarre Oltcits) from my time living in Romania.

These look great... the only concern is did someone post earlier up that the right hand drive ones are being made in India?

If so, I wonder if the quality control will be different and we'll end up with a very different experience to our continental cousins...

Well yes, but you can see from those pictures that the axle articulation isn't particularly good, if nothing else. I'm sure it's pretty capable, but I doubt you'd have to look THAT hard to find something that a defender could cross but the duster couldn't.

Obviously. It is not in the same market as a defender.
