Car trends that you hope die
Discussion
I can't help but read some of these responses and think instead of meaning 'car trends I hope die' they mean 'car trends I secretly wish my car had'.
There's the usual cringey anti German mob that pop up in every post I seem to read now. Basically you're not a petrolhead if you don't drive a 15 year old 2 grand Saab with no optional extras.
You have a new, black, German car with large wheels, park assist, electric parking brake, sat nav, 0-60 in under 6 seconds and over 30 mpg? Pssssh, come back when you have a 2001 1.9 Tdi Saab mate. They're the bks. And you can buy them cash. Finance is for wkers. Why waste money on finance when you can spend it on repair bills instead?!
Stanced and camber? I agree with that! The sooner that's gone the better.

Is that a trend still? Surely that went out in the '90s along with wearing baseball caps backwards, having a massive white "//////Alpine" sticker on your windscreen and saying "rinsin!" - whatever that meant...chrisb92 said:

Spot the fanboi. Its not the cars, some are quite good and some are amazing albeit not so good in regards to reliability in general.
It's more the sheeple that buy them (oh I only buy premium German cars don't you know) and the fact that almost every car on the road is a Vag, BMW or Merc and the drivers (tend to) have an air of superiority about them in the way they drive.
"Its German so must be the best thing out there" (due to aggressive styling/lighting and soft touch dashboards)
Tantamount to overpriced Apple crap in most situations. Image image image.
I'd love an RS6 (wouldn't buy such a mobeypit in reality though) but it would be because I love the idea of mega power in an awd estate car not because it has 4 rings on the bonnet which is why most people want an Audi.

Can I add stickers. PH ones included. I really don't like stickers;
'One life, live it'
'PH'
'Nurburgring'
'M25'
'dub'
'car club'
Totally gash.
I'm with you. Some others I'd like to add to the bin..'One life, live it'
'PH'
'Nurburgring'
'M25'
'dub'
'car club'
Totally gash.
'Hoonigan'
That weird nazi-esque hand gesture. A quick Google reveals it's called 'The Shocker' - how tasteful.
I'd also like to burn every single Paul Walker tribute sticker. If anyone on PH owns one.. shame on you.

Not strictly a trend but BMW indicator stalks, they're awful, Vauxhalls as well, however I think they use normal stalks now.
Yes, Vauxhall went back to traditional mechanical systems by popular demand! You could always spot a new Vectra by it's indicator switching from one side to 'tother...rb5er said:

Do they have a Mondeo that compares to a 330d? Nope. Do they have a ford that compares to a 5 series? Nope. There is a reason people buy those cars not just the badge as you seem to believe.

Manufacturers obsessions with marketing everything as 'Premium'. Its what I like about the C4 Cactus, and I'm glad Citroen are keeping their 'Premium cars' relatively separate through their DS Range.
I like luxury cars. I like cheap and cheerful cars. But it seems like nowadays even Supermini's and small Hatchbacks have to be seen as 'upmarket' to sell.

I know, it's been said before, even in this very thread but my top peeve fashion I hope dies from a long drop has to be EVERYTHING certain manufacturers produce having a halo model designation as a trim!
The final straw was the 216 Tourer M Sport (why).
A car as sporty as Dawn French in Lycra.
BMW. Duck Off.
I know it's a fashion, I'm hoping it will snuff itself out and suffocate.
And breathe.....
