Black wheels - am I wrong?
Discussion
Most of the black wheel photos shown on this thread just show a black space under the arch up to the tyre. The wheel could be a cheap three spoke design or an intricately designed magnesium racing wheel. Thats the bit I don't get, why hide a nice wheel?
Each to their own though, it's good to like different things.

I'm not a big fan of black wheels. Almost looked elsewhere when buying my most recent car because of the black wheels but everything else about the car was spot on. Decided to live with them. However, after seeing the car with silver winter wheels on it I grew to hate the blacks. Sold them last week. Replacement wheels are silver (and an inch smaller, but that's a different discussion ).

Saying all that, it depends on the vehicle and circumstances. I'm not a fan of bling alloys on vans and shunned them on mine in favour of steels. Tin of Hammerite and a paint brush and I've got this. Lesser of 2 evils, black rather than bling?

I think it's very subjective. I think the problem as with many car trends is that a few cars come out with (for argument sake) black wheels that look ace but then unfortunately everyone gets on the 'band wagon' and before you know it every 2nd car on earth (regardless of style or spec) has them.
I guess it's the same with deep dish alloys, Carbon bonnets, Racing stripe over the car, Aero fuel filler caps etc.

I took quite some time trying to decide on wheels for my MK3 MX5. In the end went for matte bronze. Different from silver and I agree that black wheels lose all the definition in the shape and style.

Do you know the colour code for your wheels?I think they look great on sports cars, but I liked them years ago when they were only popular amongst the modified car scene, whereas now the market is saturated by manufacturers who use them.
I will say that I don't like gloss black wheels, but the satin black set on Megane trophy are perfect

In my view this is ok, except for that the calipers clash with the wheels. Everyone knows Lambos have ma-hoo-sive brakes so I would hit those with some black hammerite and clean the look of the car up myself.
