It's Pistonheads, if it's not German and available on a cheap finance deal the masses are not interested.
The thing is that this car is in many ways 'German' and looks to me it is built down to a price so that the masses can get such car on finance and for Toyota to make money from it.Toyota aren't interested in competing with the premium sports car / GT market like they did in the 80's and 90's, they want to get into that Audi TT/370Z/2 series segment - that £299 per month sweet spot.

Classic PH, total judgement of a car in fking drawings.... seriously
For me personally, its not just the drawings. Its the combination of the pictures, the leaked camo car, the expected dimensions and the expected specifications, and the realization that what has been touted on the net for a while might actually be true. Its all very, very un "supra" like, almost to the point where it seems like a bad joke. For an iconic model that has a special place in many car enthusiasts' heart, its all incredibility disappointing. The fact that the renders have it looking like an absolute turd just adds fuel to the fire

What? What German cars would you say are built down to a price so the plebs can afford them?Toyota aren't interested in competing with the premium sports car / GT market like they did in the 80's and 90's, they want to get into that Audi TT/370Z/2 series segment - that £299 per month sweet spot.
BMW?
Mercedes?
Audi?
Porsche?
There's a lot of crap spouted on this forum.
The new Supra looks hideous too.
There’s a big distortion on the magazine pictures. The rear wheel is round, but the front wheel is oval (ratio 15:14) and about 6% smaller than the rear. Unless Toyota and Shimano have co-developed a new biopace wheel design, any talk about the car’s proportions based on these images is irrelevant.

Best part is that Toyota doesn't even bring road car to Geneva, just a GTE race machine. People are whining about renders, not actual photos... Lol.

As a dyed in the wool MKIV lover (had two cars over 9 years). I left Supra ownership about 3 years ago as I felt that the car was getting a bit long in the tooth and scarcity of parts was becoming a worry. I have since gone on to a Z4M,& 981 Cayman S.
I was hoping after all the hype that Toyota would make me fall in love with their new creation and force me to sell one if not both cars. I am worried by the pictures and details that Toyota have done a GT86 again. Loads of promise but ultimately failed to woo their fans back. This needs to be a 400HP, RWD with manual or auto options.
Geneva Motor Show is certainly going to be interesting but I am not holding out much hope for this car. If it is as bad as it looks, I like many others will stick with what they have I imagine.

Agreed! Just as bad as some of the comments on the Z4 spyshot thread last month https://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?h=0&...Gassing Station | General Gassing | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
