I thought this may be of interest given some of the comments after the 406 V6 SoTW thread:

A Laguna V6 Baccara, though that name suggests to me it should be metallic brown with full beige leather.

Wouldn't touch one with a barge pole nailed on the end of another barge pole.

Weren't the early Laguna's OK'ish ? It's the later ones that were a nightmare ?

Incoming -

£600 worth of Clio 182

3 weeks mot and a intermittent engine light , what could possibly go wrong ?

Has some sort of cone induction kit so hopefully changing that to stock plus a service and spark plugs should sort the engine light.

Cars run home will be from north Devon over exmoor into Somerset so that'll see how healthy it is or not .

Anything fun around that could partial fill the void of me getting rid of my 2014 ST?

You brave, brave man.

If your fixes work, that's a lot of car for a steal!

My swapsies Puma is a cracking little thing, it'll do me for the summer and then I'll probably swap it for an estate for the winter. 9-5 or V70, ideally.

Any hot/warm hatches in the bargain basement will be NA, you need to be sure you'll be happy with NA and less power after having turbo torque.

The V6 had a gearbox made of chocolate, power steering made of cheese, and electrics made of onions. Apart from that they were okay.

In truth no. But you could get a slight taste. C70 T5 for turbo power. Maybe a Audi 1.8t A3 quattro for a bit of fun. I would get a Leon cupra should be fun.

I know pretty much everything about a 2.2hdi,great engine and remap to 200 bhp pretty much standard. There are auto mode as well, but the fap system is st and you can remove it and they run pretty much smoke free without it but might not pass mot.

I've currently got a puma i got for £500 in nov .

Luckily i've managed to get a mot slot weds so a week later and the new mot would of failed on oil leak , engine light etc.

Engine light i'll swop the filter to standard , new plugs if that doesn't sort it i guess injectors , ht leads and if it's a total heap i still have the puma to fall back on .

i guess you don't need to worry about it blowing up because of the remap because it will just blow up on its own anyway!

I assume it’s the same hdi unit in a Citroen C5. If so I had one & got 205k out of it , sold it after 4 days on gumtree.

Only got rid as clutch was starting to slip, sometimes wish I’d done clutch & kept it.

Admittedly it wasn’t mapped & It didn’t blow up!!

That's a hell of a lot of miles in 4 days.

Here we go then the £600 Clio 182.

Cel - missfire cylinder 1

Abs - light on , advisory last mot abs ring corroded and brake pedal seems a bit soft compared to how I remember my cup .

I forgot how hard core the clutches are on these , proper left leg work out.

In for a mot weds before the new mot comes into force.

well from my family selling citroens for 10 years. TBH i was only being humorous, it's generally the ancillary bits and electrics/electronics that are st, but the engines are not immune.

We'll see , it goes in for mot tomorrow.

I've been thrashing the pants off it over exmoor and despite having a misfire the engine pulls really strongly.

Hopefully the misfire is old spark plugs or induction kit.

Brakes are a but soft and juddery and suspension is a bit tired .

So tomorrow my £500 puma is back in service, ever reliable .
