it seems very important for you to win this discussion. I've got other stuff to be doing now so I'll let you win this one if it massages your ego and gives you the increased sense of importance you seem to be craving.
Enjoy it whist it lasts. Nice isn't it, much like the feeling (I guess) you must probably get from owning one of those blinged up SUV's. Until you take a step back of course and look at your life, and then realise that you worked so hard for all these years to roast £100k on what is essentially an expensive substitute for what you've been told to think that happiness should look like.
Honestly, you don't seem very happy to me. Maybe there's something to be said for not driving around in a 20 year old banger?Enjoy it whist it lasts. Indeed. All manufacturers are seeing sales down 40%+..... Aren't they?
JLR are suffering more than pretty much everyone. Co-Incidence?
Conversely, other big manufacturers rely on China for a greater share of their profits - suspect the reason it has hit JLR harder is because they’re solely at the “premium” end of the market.JLR are suffering more than pretty much everyone. Co-Incidence?
Some seem to be insinuating that a car manufacturing company shouldn't try to sell a new car if their sales are down and they certainly shouldn't attempt to sell a quick version of an existing product (a cheap way of generating interest) while the next generation of product is under its final stage of development.

The J side of JLR has been seemingly dead for years. Minor signs of life with the F-Type, F-Pace and I-Pace, but mainstream died years ago.
It's tragic. I've wanted to buy a Jag for 20yrs, they've just never had anything to sell me.
Dated interior? Err...
As for pointless, what were you expecting? It’s a relatively low-volume halo model of a relatively niche car, which still does everything the cheapest one does. Can’t see how it’s any more or less pointless than any other fast SUV (less than most probably, given it retains some off-road ability).
I’m starting to think that there should be an exam to use the internet.

I totally don’t get it... a woman’s car that no woman would want, dated interior, pointless on every level.
I really do fear that Land Rover and Jaguar have totally lost there way, while at the same time have become utterly irrelevant in the modern world.

And dated interior? Have you sat in a Velar? Have you seen how many RRS SVR are driven by women? Pointless??
From prospective owners I know, the biggest gripe about the Velar is that is it is bit lame in the engine department. This fixes that.
My next car will most likely be back to an SUV. This could be a contender. Without the V8 it wouldn't be.

It seems we might be reaching peak SUV hate and JLR hate on this thread from a few people.
Plenty won't like it but plenty will. As a UK-based company employing lots of British workers I think we should applaud JLR for producing products that look and perform at the top of their game. I do wish they could improve reliability but it is not like German cars are flawless.
I reckon the pricing is optimistic but there will probably be some discounting in 6-12 months and as someone referred to earlier there must be plenty of profit in units like this to allow for discounting over the life-cycle.
I hope the company is working feverishly behind the scenes to hybridise their engine range otherwise they will be in serious trouble in 2-5 years. That's where their risk is as they don't have the scale of most other global manufacturers and I don't think Tata has the depth of pocket of Geely or VAG.

(*their) . . . A quick look back on here and this shows the true anal-ity of this poster. I'm on here having a laugh and enjoying the banter but flagging up another forum member for mis-typing a word, that's a whole other level! Hell I've probably made some errors in this post right here. Ooh, perhaps see if you can spot them? I would tell you to get a life but I'm guessing that by the fact you are on here at past 8pm picking faults with people's grammar then you already know that this is the case, right? And dated interior? Yep it really is great bantz.I imagine everybody else thinks so.
Above all else I’m certain nobody, not one single person, not Sir, on the thread thinks you’ve made yourself look like a bit of a dwad

The Velar is a good looking car. I would be interested to know how the pop out door handles fared in the polar vortex conditions in the USA. I believe they were engineered to work down to -10°C. Temperature has fallen below that on accession even here in the UK. Anyone know?
I suspect they'll cope with lower temps than that. Most manufacturers do arctic testing.News of this dropped into my Twitter feed earlier today, prompted me to price up a Jag F-Pace SVR - came in at £80k with a spec I'd consider spot on, which I felt to be reasonable value - even better now that I've seen prices for the Velar start at £86k.
Prefer the Jag on balance but would like someone from JLR to explain, (genuine question) the positioning of the two models because it appears to me that the overlap between them is just too great - surely aimed at a very similar target market?
Having said all of that I can only hope that the Velar stops better than the RRS SVR - it should do base on sheer mass - based on recent experience when one nearly rear-ended me as I turned into my drive. 2 and bit tons of bellowing, Katie Price-spec real estate bearing down on you because the Phil Mitchell double behind the wheel assumes the brake pedal offers a similar response to that of the accelerator, will live with me for a while yet... Not convinced that sort of demographic and the way they drive is great for Range Rover's longer term brand health.
Hence my preference for the Jag I suppose...
