Maybe it is your continued assertion that you personally (and therefore others) somehow require the ability to see through the vehicle in front of you in order to be safe on the road. What percentage of accidents on the road are you suggesting can be directly attributed to folks making a ”mistake” because they are “forced to modify their trailing distance” (another classic) whilst following a vehicle that they cannot see through and how many of these, in the cold light of day, wouldn’t come down to being a result of their own actions as oppose to a lack of visibility? (which of course would be within their own ability to control)

If your wife being a social worker and the RTA’s mentioned are , in your own words, an unrelated point why mention it at all??
- there are so many artics, vans and in-between sizes that even if every SUV ever made disappeared in a puff of smoke there'd still be obscured vision?
- if your vision is obscured then the prudent thing to do would be to hang back a little?
Obviously the above doesn't help vis-a-vis in SUV vs smaller things accidents, but that size disparity is everywhere and something that won't disappear any time soon

Car industry in for a hard time imho, where is the demand for these EV's vs manufacturers being forced to build them due to CO2 Regs. Company car drivers will no doubt embrace the zero or low BIK for the next few years only to be fked over if EV's ever tip over to being popular. Range still an issue^ slow charge time and seemingly no where to charge the fkers another one. Next 15 years set to be very uncomfortable for the industry imho.

Your statement applies most of all to the EU and UK, but notably less so to China and almost not at all to the US. The latter two sell more vehicles and, arguably, are more influential to the future of the personal car. China and America are the rationale for the Mustang Mach-E. The UK and Europe are not part of the business case for this car.

While most of us will agree with that statement, the forces of change are more than just government mandates. Pressures are equally strong in the form of demographic changes, shifts in social awareness, alterations to the time and location of the workplace, the rise of ride sharing and car sharing, as well as the promise of autonomous transport.
As is typical of such "plate tectonics" of society, the EU (+UK) and the US will arrive at very nearly the same destination. They will, however, apply different methods to getting there. And one will tend to prioritise the collective while the other, the individual.

There's brand leverage, which to me makes sense if a maker uses something like racing to build an image, such as Subaru did, or a car with a similar theme to an existing model. This is so far removed from what a Mustang is that it stops making sense. R400TVR said:

On the contrary, this makes eminent sense.Porsche Macan, to give just one example, does a fine job of bringing to life the sporting values of Porsche in a segment of the market where a traditional 2+2 doesn't trade. And the Mustang Mach-E experience will work much the same.
