I guess it boils down to the fact, if it is a daily driven car you will spend most of the time not going fast and waiting for those über rare moments when you can cane it. I don't believe many will be bought JUST for track use etc.
FWIW I wouldn't buy a car solely on an interior but if it was close decision with something else I wanted, it MIGHT be enough to sway it. I will say having had three imprezas, I am accustomed to Japanese interiors.
Most hot hatch buyers in the 30k+ market will want something that feels more premium I guess.FWIW I wouldn't buy a car solely on an interior but if it was close decision with something else I wanted, it MIGHT be enough to sway it. The oily bits of a GR Yaris are obviously incredible, but for Gary the 40 year-old sales manager who wants a fun car that he can get past the mrs? He'll be looking at something a bit fancy and German, or the sensible Focus with a big boot. A Toyota with box arches and a boot about the same size as a GT86's that won't fit a 5'11 14 year old in the back won't really cut it, especially when he tells her indoors that it doesn't have parking sensors or satnav because he specced front and rear torsen LSDs.

Compare this to a GTI though, come on. This is a serious rally rep, if someone picks a Golf GTI over this at a similar price point then I think Mumsnet is more up their alley. I'd honestly pick this over any of the German 4wd hyper hatches as well, even if someone offered to give me the money to buy whichever I chose.
Just a shame Ford won't make a Fiesta RS with the power bumped up to Stage 1 levels (250-260bhp) and the GKN AWD system to compete with this. Would be like a modern Evo vs Scooby
I agree you can't compare this to a Golf GTI but for completely different reasons you pertain to. The Yaris is a C segment specialist bit of kit. The Golf is a mainstream D segment car. People will choose the Golf because it works as a do it all family HH. The Yaris being smaller and only seating for 2 in the rear (plus no doubt a shallow boot due to 4wd/diff etc) will not be a viable choice for a 1 car family.Just a shame Ford won't make a Fiesta RS with the power bumped up to Stage 1 levels (250-260bhp) and the GKN AWD system to compete with this. As for Mumsnet................... I think that cliche is worn out now.

Just spoke to a dealer and been advised that you have to order on line and the car will be delivered to your local dealer.
In addition he said numbers are going to be limited in UK, surely limited numbers will only be on the first batch.
Anyone had similar info from dealer or is this incorrect.
Not strictly correct, there are 54 GR dealers, so I suspect they are not one of them.In addition he said numbers are going to be limited in UK, surely limited numbers will only be on the first batch.

You can order online, or via a dealer, I have sold a number to PH members.
There is no limit on the numbers at the moment, Deliveries are showing Feb '21 for orders now.

- Could do without the Ipad glued to the dash (in years to come, when the LCD screen fails and you lose access to cars complete infotainment system, they will lose their appeal big time)
That applies to pretty much any new car though. Wadeski said:
Would love to see someone photoshop up a white one with the iconic Castrol livery from the Celica WRC. And rally mudflaps. And some white OZ racing wheels ![jester](/inc/images/jester.gif)
I do love the sound of this. its a fruity exhaust away from a road going Sega Rally machine.
It is a shame about the exhaust note, Hyundai and Ford have shown you can get decent sounding hot hatch exhausts through even with OPFs and stricter regs.![jester](/inc/images/jester.gif)

If they can photoshop the cheating turbo restrictor, then even better.![jester](/inc/images/jester.gif)

Does the Fiesta ST sound good? I only really remember the pops and bangs.
I like it, it doesn't sound great inside the cabin but with the window down and the exhaust in sport it has a nice bassy warbly sound. The new Focus has a decent sound to it as well for a stock system as far as I know, and the i30N is quite impressiveGassing Station | General Gassing | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
