The reason I highlighted the tailgating sales rep is because he does have targets to meet afterall... its not a dig as I have a good friend who does exactly that and drives a vauxhall. The difference is atleast he knows what hes in is pants and aspires to be in something a little better.

Re-read your above post and tell me that your not comparing two cars you know fk all about.

To me it looks like Vauxhall should stay within their market. Stick to Hatchbacks with typically "slightly above average" stats instead of competing with the big boys.
General Motors Corporation (GM) (NYSE: GM), is a global automaker founded in 1908 with headquarters in Detroit, Michigan. It is the world's second-largest automaker after Toyota, ranked by 2008 global unit sales.[3] GM was formerly the global sales leader for 77 consecutive calendar years from 1931 to 2007. It manufactures cars and trucks in 34 countries. GM employs 244,500 people around the world, and sells and services vehicles in some 140 countries. In 2008, 18.35 million GM cars and trucks were sold globally under the following brands: Buick, Cadillac, Chevrolet, GMC, GM Daewoo, Holden, Hummer, Opel, Pontiac, Saab, Saturn, Vauxhall and Wuling.[4]...I suppose the "big boys" he must mean are Toyota? There really are some daft comments on here...is everyone suddenly a wannabe Clarkson?

If your that convinced that it will be that good, then why dont you phone vauxhall and ask them how many units they expect to sell??
When they give you an answer maybe then you can ask them why they dont expect to sell as many as the audi??
smart a$$

You on the other hand have been spouting this exact rubbish, using past comparisons. Vauxhall have never been a direct competitor with Audi, the Astra VXR was a quicker car then the S3 and at practically half the price. Never directly compared though because of the PRICE and the badge.
As regards to how many will sell well now your really spouting rubbish. We already have an idea that it will not sell as fast as the Audi. However that does not make the car any worse then its competitors. It just goes to show that the general public are attracted by a brand and image thats all.
^^going off topic for a second.. Since when was the astra vxr quicker than the S3?? your a complete joker!!
Get a grip dude this is a forum. Its where people post opinions, not everyone has to agree with you. If you want to argue that where the general public spend their money is wrong then your free to do so.
In my book the figures dont lie. I will be very very shocked if this car is deemed as good as the S4, sells as many, holds its vaule as well, and is quicker round a track.

Ok so not everyone wants to see a car that provides good competition to a dying market do well. That’s my opinion, if other so called petrol heads such as your self don’t agree then fine with me.
As regards to the quicker car above I am not going into to it. It was merely a comparison of which you will disagree with because you’re completely blinded by the badge.
The fact that you have completely ignored my questions in the previous posts just goes to show that you really have no argument. You know nothing about either car yet you base your opinions on what? Absolutely fk all.
I have not stated anything about the buyers of the Audi you moron, I clearly stated that its fact that people are attracted by image and brands. Thats exactly why I buy the clothes I do. Or the shoes I wear.

Damn, thats ugly.
apparently not so if you already drive a vauxhall ;-)But still. Peoples opinion of car shapes and how pretty they are at launch often changes. With one exception. Bland pretty much always stays as bland.
See the 3-series
Or the A3..4...3 err one of them.
And as comparison cars which definately are not bland or pretty. But still PH cars:
Being pretty or ugly does not affect how good the car is or how well it'll sell. Unless it's a Scorpio.

Based on previous vauxhalls I dont expect the vauxhall to sell anywhere near as many units as the audi, be as good as the audi, be quicker than the audi, hold its value as well as the audi, be as desirable as the audi.
Now if you can find me some evidence contrary to the above then you have a valid argument. Like I said before I base my conclusions on past experience and facts written in the article... do you know something i dont??

On a normal, twisty country road with a few bumps thrown in for good measure? I think it might be a different story.
Manufacturer's claims mean nothing in the real world, To me, how quick a car is, is all about what it can do on real roads, with a real driver (poor surfaces, corners and all)

Which is where Evo tested the Vectra VXR alongside the bechmarks of the Subaru and Mitsi Evo and found it to be a great car... So based on that we can assume the Insignia will also be great. We still dont know if it'll steal Audi sales though. I doubt it.Superhoop said:

i quite like the look of that.. the A4/S4 imho look dated already.
what we do know about the engine is it will produce 300lb/ft at 2000rpm up untill 4500-5000rpm. 90% of the torque will be available from 1500rpm. This engine is already being used in saab/vectra but with modifications to produce alittle more power.
not sure what mpg the vectra VXR/saab turbo X owners get, i get low to mid 30s on a fast ish run. 35mpg+ is possible if the speed is kept to 70ish.
imho the engine is a peach, it isn't a great engine like the bmw 3.0 twin turbo, but it is good. its smooth, with very little lag, infact it doesn't feel like a turbo charged engine.
what will be worrying though is the weight of the car, the VXR model will probably weight in at over 1700kgs which will hamper performance.
not sure i would buy one.. and definitly not the audi, especially when you can have a very nice car for 30K.

audi is quicker. Read the article mate the only times it states are the 0-60, and based on that the audi is quicker, FACT.
better built. Unless the interior is also going to be changed from that of the std insigna then yes the audi interior is better built, FACT.
will hold its value better. See the image the guy posted previously, or better still speak to Vauhall finance and as them about residuals over 3yrs, so the Audi will hold its value better, FACT.
wont get you stupid looks... Just went and told my brother Im getting a 30k vauxhall, from what I can hear they are still laughing, FACT.
Why is it so difficult for you to accept that he audi is probably going to be the better car??? did someone once cut you up at a round about?? or has the realisation that its out of your price backet just set in??
And just beacuse i choose to post on PH on very few occasions doesnt mean Im a troll, I have over 5000 post on other forums. Good day dumb sir

I would say that the amount of torque the Insignia has will play a very large part in in gear acceleration.
In what way is it better built? the Insigina interior has got very good reviews.
I know it will hold its value better I have never questioned that one. Its fairly obvious tbh.
I agreed with you as regards to stupid looks. Read my post again.
I dont find it diffulcult to understand that the Audi will be the better car. It probably will be, I have not once stated any different.
Oh and the 30K of the insignia is way out of my budget let alone the Audi.
Love You
