1st car I had was a Ford Anglia and petrol was 25p gallon. Even that seemed a lot at the time. Remeber going to work on a Lambretta LD125 and buying 2/6d worth + a shot of 2 stroke. It lasted ages.
Last week I filled up and it cost £100
Was that for the Anglia or the lambretta? Last week I filled up and it cost £100

Don´t think so, I started a part time job in a petrol staion about then , was about 4s 11d/gallon, more like a crown. Not just relying on my memory -

It cost me £2 to fill the old man's car; nearly 5bob to fill the Quickly.
As soon as I read your correction a big light bulb went off in my head as I remembered handing over two notes for the fuel.
Mea culpa and best, B
