Harry does it because he thoroughly enjoys it, and you can really tell in the videos he puts out

I think Harry (of "Harry's Garage") has two advantages over the full time Youtubers, he can focus on making quality videos rather than being obliged to put out content every day or two, and because he isn't running around like a blue arsed fly making daily videos he can have a lifestyle where he can do genuine road trips rather than shipping the cars around in a truck.

I see on Instagram he's done a roadtrip in a mk1 Lotus Esprit, hopefully it's been filmed.
Yes, released just two videos ago. The video is getting some of his highest views which is great as he isn’t likely to stop now he’s seeing the results.

He’s getting 3/4 times more views than SOL but a third of subscribers.

Wow, thanks for all the kind comments. As a few of you have already said, I'm do these vids mainly for enjoyment and it great to see them being so well received. The positive response does encourage me to do more of these trips with the cars in the collection, otherwise I can't see the point in owning them. I'd probably never have taken a Rolls Royce Shadow to the Arctic if it wasn't for the HG channel, nor a Testarossa to the Sahara for that matter. The financial return from YouTube doesn't cover the costs involved but it helps ease the pain and the memories will last for ever. My hope is HG will encourage viewers to do similar trips themselves. evo was about selling dreams and up to a point, HG should be too.

The only big thing that's changed recently is I've taken the editing in-house, which happened last September time. This has helped massively speed up delivery from recording a vid to posting, which has meant I can post much more regularly than I did previously. I've also discovered it's quite fun doing the editing but I'm not intending upping video production quality from what it is now, as I'm keen to keep HG vids simple and repeatable.

What I love most about YouTube is it's a free resource that's easy to publish on and whatever is posted there should be available for evermore. Compared to publishing a magazine, it's a wonderful resource, as it never goes 'off-sale'. I guess the only issue is it's a bit too easy to publish on YouTube, so there's a fair bit of rubbish on there too but quality generally rises to the top, which is exactly how it should be.

I count myself lucky to have been doing this car reviewing stuff for a few decades now and coming from a journalistic background, you soon learn editorial integrity is everything. You need to report as you find, I review cars as if I were going to be buying it myself, so if I find any negative issues that need highlighting, they will be but on the flip-side, if something is wonderful, that needs celebrating too. The viewer is your customer, not the car manufacture. It's also great to be able to share some of the back stories from my time at evo when reviewing cars on HG too.

Finally, as that chap on HG keeps on saying; thanks for watching, more videos coming along very soon..

Fantastic stuff. Harry’s Farm is equally compelling viewing for those not yet subscribed.

I think another great thing Mr M does is that if there is a negative on a car he informs but doesn't overdo it. In recent times we seem to have jumped on the YT world from gushing praise on every car to a sort of faux "diss" that almost has to be in every video somewhere. The car guys Boxster video was a great lesson in how to not go too overboard. A truly terrible upload.

Keep up there good work anyway Harry. YouTube for grownups you can have that tagline for free biggrin

100% this.
I can’t think of any other channel that is even half as good at best
This, superb content from a total car enthusiast with absolutely nothing to prove to anyone.

Fully echo the cracking comments re HG Mr M. As a brit in Australia, with nil access to nice drives, or a road network that does anything to encourage a heavy right foot, it's joyous to behold. As has been said, the true, knowledgeable petrol head will always respect simple, honest and informed reviewing by someone who has been there and bought many t-shirts. Long may it continue Mr M. I'd even proffer the suggestion of a Metcalfe/Monkey channel... imagine that! Now, where did I put that order form for a new Defender? Onwards. Cheers.

Keep it up Harry would watch you review anything tbh! I remember you seemed quite smitten with a V12 Vantage at one of those recent auction previews and I was nearly certain it was gonna end up in your garage as it was guided at sub 60k iirc...were you tempted?

Really? I thought it was impressive watching the F35, but the whole thing was contrived and about as exciting as waiting for JWW’s next ‘Project’ reveal.

I was but you can't keep buying cars just because you like them! It was nice though, I guess the Project 8 would be the obvious one to go to make room but that isn't going to happen as I'd much rather have the P8 in the garage than that V12 Vantage..

I was thinking quite the opposite.

I know the Shmee 'brand' is all about 'The Supercar Lifestyle' but it is very one dimensional collection with too much duplication of purpose.

But, fair play to Tim, his 'Lamborghini Crashing in the street' video popped up in my 'recommended' feed the other day, I think that was his first viral video and only 5 or 6 years ago, so he's come a long way since then.

Same, there is six 2 seater supercar/sports cars. 2 focuses (foci?), then an FF and the G-Wagon.

Absolutely nothing wrong with that, but i wouldn't call it well rounded.

Pleasure is all ours Harry. Given the current landscape of automotive you tubers, even as a young person (age 25), I find your content far more engaging than most others

The latest Harry's Garage on the 992 Carrera S was a brilliant review but I became aware of the super clear digital MPH display, it must have been tempting to stick a piece of black electrical tape over that to make editing easier.
