By sheer weight of odds, it is only a matter of time before these scumbags attack the wrong house, and someone (hopefully one of them) is killed.

I'm no Corbynite, and understand that throwing public money at things isn't always the answer, but when you have a police service that doesn't have the resources to police, and a and a Crown Prosecution Service that has lost almost a third of its budget, and people, in the last decade, something surely has to give. The system is creaking, and is now unfit for purpose.

Who fancies taking one for the team them? hehe

We could all chip in for a bait car, then the 'chosen one' is allowed to keep and use said car until the day comes where they become a target and have to go medieval on some dinger scum.

This is worrying. I do wonder how much Facebook/social media is used to help identify victims here. I assume people like to post pictures of new cars on such sites, and it's not that hard to find out where people live based on profiles - has given the wrong type of people almost a catalog of cars to target.

Anyway, condolences to anyone that's had to go through this, we tend to get attached to our cars but they are just metal, insured metal at that, and can be replaced. I'd never let it stop me owning what I wanted either.

My brother had his 1 week old BMW taken yesterday.

Happened in the day whilst he and his wife were at work.

Other than an iPad sitting on the coffee table, nothing else was taken at all (no jewellery etc)...they just ransacked the house looking for both keys it seems.
What was it?

Assuming this was during daytime hours and not an overnight absence, I doubt they would have tried if someone was home.
Why do you say that?
Because (my understanding is that) it totally bucks the current trend of night time thefts for car keys and also the fact that daytime burglaries of property for small but portable items happen exclusively when people are out.

I certainly haven't heard of a high occurrence of day time home robberies when the home owners(s) are sat in the next room watching catch up tele.

I am happy for you to prove me wrong though.

Edit: Taaaang has not deliberately set up his response a few posts afterwards.

^^ Thanks.

Its been suggested before that its usually the 5 door that gets lifted, as its more suitable for crime use.

I was interested to know if its true, or if 3door and Soft top (or even TT platform) cars are as popular.

Robbed for different reasons.

The 5 door fast golfs and a3's get the crims and their pals in with space in the boot for crates of relentless and a few tools

3 doors robbed to order, some crime, chop shops etc.

Loads of people want the sports seats in their Audi golf models so they get bought up

^^ its been suggested before that people should stop putting up media posts to inform the world that they are on holiday in another timezone for a couple of weeks, as that publicises an empty house.

For people that 'don't give a fk about anything' – they seem awfully concerned about someone waking up and lots of checking over their shoulders and whether any lights have come on upstairs.

Somebody has to ask but do you recommend dominating the stairs as well?

In October they took my M3 keys from our kitchen at 7.15pm, when we were in. They smashed the door in about 5 minutes after we had left the room. There were 4 of us in the house at the time.

No but in my line of work I see a lot of attempted an allso successful robberies.. there are 2 regular types in my opinion stress my opinion .

1 the little scummy kids out for joyride
Usual targets are your weekend motor and or track day cars limited security ! Surprisingly clever client had a car stolen recently the one night it wasn’t on his ramp !!! (Watching)

2 the gangland style stolen to order boys
the type who throw a brick thru your bifold doors an take what they want they usually visit befor taking the motor. (rare) but getting more common. Usually back door but have seen front doors with crowbar damage . Buy a rock or composite door !

My set up

I have Cctv , alarms , motion tracking Ptz ,with number plate recognition . Line crossing set at all boundary’s sounds extreme but it works to a degree. Failing that

I allso have concealed roller shutters to my bifold doors an french doors total 4 at 22 gauge. Allso to the garage all windows are 6 Minuite vandal proof. ( my opinion all windows should be this as standard now a days )
At the end of the day you dont want to be the slowest swimmer as the sharks eat them first. Use that one at work. sorry for the rant and grammar at work
