I like the R230 with the red interior. I was going to have a good look at the pics, but it seems it's gone now. I was wondering what's up with the roll hoop being up.

I've been out in the R107 today to check it still works in time for next week's loser conference, all good!

Not seen him post for a bit I don't think, but I noticed one of our number, barchetta_boy, appears on a recent Harry's Garage you tube video. He won a competition to have Harry show off his Porsche 928 on the show. Well worth a watch.

I struggle to get upset about those being front driven. I wouldn't want a front drive sports car, but I wouldn't be bothered in that.

I still fancy that V6 SL though, and I don't even care that it's not a V8 or V12

Posting on behalf of a friend on the Jaguar Forum, if anybody is after a diesel XJ:

As per my post on the main forum the green goddess is Now for sale owing to my having health issues and my licence being revoked.

First registered in October 2005 she is 2006 my year. Jaguar Racing green. This car is well documented on this site and i have owned her for 5 years.

She is showing 192000 on the clock.

Money wise she was valued in late July by the insurance assessor for the engine at £4700 trade buy. Sale for £5700. But i will listen to reasonable offers from an enthusiast who will promise to look after her.

Yes
Just bought one! 4.4 petrol. Mine was £6k but very very nice. Didn't stop the "Air Suspension Inactive" message from coming on as I was driving home from collecting it though! banghead

Refurbed the compressor myself with this kit.....

So far so good.

That looks so good.

I was thinking that was him, especially when a second 928 was mentioned. My wife couldn't understand why I was particularly excited to see someone I've never even met being featured....

I like the red interior too, but I'm biased towards them.

Due a service in a couple of thousand miles... Rusty rear-disc(s), sticky caliper maybe? That's about it, fair bit of front suspension work done for recent MOTs which is good, manual gearbox (preferable to the 'sealed for life, aye right' auto), and most importantly it has a 'GB' sticker!

Euro3 engine which has got a lot less crap to go wrong than the Euro4, so that's another plus. Admired (but never owned) - I wouldn't let the high-mileage put me off either. Also, wish they wouldn't dress the engine plastics. Bah.

Snake oil detailing products is a market I really need to get into.

Take average product. Do a deal. Buy a lot.

Spend a few hundred quid on graphic designer and small format packaging. Probably black/silver colour scheme like the Tesco Finest range, because we know that works, and maybe some strange words that look approximately European.

Bit of PR, some Russian troll bots on a few forums, swanky puddle-deep website,

Perhaps a presentation pack to reel in the mums looking for a nice risk-free present. Free Sponge!!!

Bosh.

Easy, easy eeeeeeasy money.
Why stop there? This post came to mind in the shops the other day. What odds these are chemically identical?

Not sure about sub 4K but I am giving serious consideration to a SC RR either a sport ot full fat or possibly a discovery if it's a mint one but there's a lot of junk out there
The RR Sport requires the body off to replace turbos & certain hydraulic pipes for the "Dynamic Suspension" etc.... which put me off the 'Sport'.

That sounds optimistic.

There's a 2005 one for sale up the road from me for 6.5k that's done 120k miles less...

I think the engine has only done 92k after reading the jaguar forum posts - correct me if im wrong.
I nearly bought one of these 53 plate, 3.0 litre petrol with about 70k on the clock for £3200 back in 2011. Prices seem to have climbed up slightly, but they do look dated now, especially the interiors and I wouldnt be paying £6k for one of these.

Agreed, dated looks and asking way too much. Not my cup of tea.

It isn't the FWD-ness of it - my V70 has power delivered through the steered wheels - it's the styling, the quality, the general naff-ness and the fact it marks the owner as being towards the Partridge-esque end of the spectrum that puts me off.

I've found whether something is 'dated' or not isn't a useful measure of quality to be honest.

I didn’t have the heart to be honest with him on the Jag forums given his situation, but it’s massively overpriced. Yes, he’s spent a lot of money on it and it’s probably in great condition, but to the average buyer it’s simply not worth anything like what he’s asking for it.

Dated compared to what?

A W220 S-Class, a Lexus LS, bangle 7 series have hardly aged any better imo, I personally think that the X350 in X358 guise has aged very well. The only equivalent that may look newer is the A8, but so much duller.
