Dont forget they all want to "keep up with the joneses" as well as climbing the social ladder. Plus they get Dave who knows about cars to reccomend one.... its usually VAG 'cause beemers are expensive, yanks are crap, fords are dull, and everyone has a vauxhall 'cause they're classless

My Sharan VR6 can show a clean pair of heels to many supposed performance cars too. And no, I wasn't made to buy it by my wife, I actually bought it in the first place for her and then reclaimed it after I bought her a newer one as I actually rather like it. (For the record, it's not my only car though.)
No it can't. It's just they weren't trying.
My bold.

Oh I'm not saying that it's the fastest car in the world, not by a long shot.

It is however surprisingly quick especially for what it is and it's more than capable of keeping up with theoretically faster vehicles and is very easy to get into licence losing territory.

I wasn't initially defending that though, I was merely reacting to the intimation that all MPVs are driven by henpecked spacktards.

That is all.

These with all the decals. Usually found with knuckle-draggers driving.

Each to their own, I personally couldn't think of anything worse.

Well, there's boring American cars and bloody good American cars. Just like any other country.

I think an RS4 would be a lot more fun than a Saturn.
Spot on colonial! I totally agree but I was referring to the sports car market, for example my old SL55 compared to a Corvette that I owned felt dull and although well built and very fast had no comparison to the corvette that was a fun exciting drive and it was a lot less money to purchase also, SL55 plagued with problems....Corvette not one issue entire ownership and my friend who owns it now has never had a days trouble.

That's not an excuse , I know you probably don't give a toss but it's nothing cool about exhaust note , however a sweet engine note doesn't bother me or anyone else

Audi Q7 and BMW x6 drivers, please tell me why ???????
My sister has a Q7 and lives in West London so is a prime target for hate. But, they have 4 kids aged 5, 7, 9 and 11 and with all the gear they have to carry, it was either one of those, a people carrier or a pick up truck. While I don't like Q7s as a rule, I don't begrudge them buying it given those choices as they are actually the only family I know that owns a car like that can actually justify it

So a 2litre diesel people carrier wouldn't have done the job as well as the four wheel drive, 3tonne SUV?

Absolutely I agree each to their own, but to say someone is a knob for driving an american car is no diffrent to saying your a nob for buying a new Polo that is one thing i could think of as being worse!

I just can't work out the difference of driving a yank car as opposed to driving a German, French car etc but I suppose you know what you mean.

My post said that given the choice of the 3, I don't begrudge them buying the better quality car given that the money isn't an issue for them. If they'd ben a couple with no kids tooling around in a massive SUV when they didn't need the space etc, then I could understand why people would have aproblem with it. I actually don't care, i used to get annoyed by RRs etc in London, but life's too short. Like I said, I just don't like the Q7 period because it's a soft roader, but that's my personal taste smile

Henpecked spactards made me laugh, I guess you are forgiven wink Truth is I though you were claiming that the VR6 was just the fastest thing ever built!
