Outstanding piece of kit imho.

As an aside, I'm pretty sure I recall a story about an F1 owner who wanted their car painted "aubergine" and the team was sent out to Morriburyscos to go and get several...wonder if it's the same client???

Always associate Pininfarina with Ferrari myself :/

The 458 for Eric Clapton was made by Ferrari themselves I believe though and personally whilst not great I think it was a work of art compared to this monstrosity.

I know the standard 12c coupe looks a bit dull (like the convertible however) but they have managed to make it a whole lot worse with this, the 3/4 view especially wtf where they thinking frown
Ask the owner - they designed it, not McLaren.
Not according to the article...

Instinctively I feel like I should hate it, but if I am honest - something about that actually does work for me. Bizarre. Oddly though, my first reaction is that it would really fit the bill for Centari's car if they remade The Last Starfighter. (Hollywood remake everything - surely it is but a matter of time).

I would get my coat at this point, but the weather is far too good for that so I shall just quietly exit stage left.........

Rowan Atkinson?

Imo its hideous, i only hope the new owner likes it and doesnt ask for a refund. If this makes them happy then im happy for them.
It could be for him, if you've seen the plans for the house he wants to build you'd believe it.

Just come home after a very heavy night in the pub. This god awful piece of st - from the same company that gave us the F1 for fks sake - does not get any better.

Indeed, it is truly appalling & IMO McLaren should be ashamed of themselves. The thing is so ugly I could cry.

Why why why in gods name would anyone pay to have this heap of bilge built for them?

It is hideous & I cannot say just how much this piece of crap makes me cringe.

I think the guy who commissioned the unique Ferrari P4/5 got a superior "timeless classic" then this.

Looks like a Prius on steroids to me.

The guy "James Glidkenhaus" got an Enzo based repro of something that had gone before... then had a racing version built from a 430 Scuderia base. Ditched eveything as Ferrari refused to sell him a rolling chassis and then caricatured one of the most famous endurance race cars of all time. Original??? Er, no. Beautiful? Absolutely.

"Timeless classic"...? readthe blurb! could youn pin down a year the X1 nwas designed 20 years from now???

No.

Result? Timeless.

P4/5 will always be pinned down to the original or its copy.

I think it's gorgeous! The influence of old school uberwaft is pretty strong, for some reason it reminds me of a big Citroen (could be that SM in the brief).

Wouldn't do for us all to be the same smile

This car is hurl

Reading all the comments you can pick up the McLaren fanboys out easily...even in front of such monstruosity, so blatent, they would go on finding a way to spin the reality, just a few examples:

"Amazing, truly original, refreshing"
"Mclaren doing something different"
"I love the originality, very, very cool."
"It is great to see that designers have the freedom to produce something original that stands out from the crowd."
"Well done to McLaren and the customer for having the courage to do this."

The power of bias knows no limits! smile
