Well it is either a really obvious answer and hence a stupid question, or has already been asked and I have missed it in my skim through but here goes...

What is the orange car in the background? GT3 RS?

In my experience, most '120mph autobahn cruises' are, unfortunately, periods of said speed in convoy, grabbed between the many roadworks and congestion spots.

I'd be surprised if it was a genuine 30mpg average at an average of 120mph.
All depends where in Germany, some parts too busy others bliss!

You have to take a stand now or the company you hold so dear will be lost forever.

The company that has been making big profits by producing cars that people want to buy will be lost forever?

How?

You do realise that Aston is doomed ultimately, if they don't widen their range and do what Porsche have done?

Aston is the only remaining premium sporting car manufacturer that is trying to exist on selling 2 seaters and 2+2's.

Ferrari have Maserati as a sister co ( shortly to launch an SUV).

Jaguar have Land Rover.

The rest are VAG.

They're doomed I tell yee, doomed. Aston will probably be owned by TATA inside 5 years.
You're probably right about Aston but very wrong about Ferrari....they make plenty of money on their own and it's Maserati that struggles. They're both owned by Fiat anyway. Here's a boring fact for you.....Maserati's cost pretty much the same to make as Ferrari's. That came from Fiat's CFO.

The interesting one will be McLaren to see if they can stick at it on their own.

The man has an iphone. He says it works in the Porsche but not in the Jag. Seems a fair enough point to make. Lots of people have iphones (I don't), they might find CH's experience useful.

Would the criticism be fair if (as it seems) Jag say the car should integrate with said iphone but can't make it do so?
I guess my point is that the one problem Chris picked up on with the Jag was that it wouldn't talk to his iPhone properly - it takes 2 things to communicate and it could just as easily be that the iPhone didn't talk to the Jag and was an Apple problem. Or a bluetooth problem which are very common.

Don't have an iPhone or a new Jag so can't comment on what is said about compatibility.

I jump into different cars with some frequency (albeit not as much as our journalists) and in a world where most cars are really pretty good indeed (certainly to this idiot with no pretence for any ability to assess a car or drive it even to 5 tenths) the thing which really gets on my nerves is when iThingy integration doesn't go well, or at all. It's the same with my Android phone too, and I'm afraid that it is a constant bugbear for me with JLR product.

Simple questions: would anyone buy one with one's own money? For private use? Why?

Even if that was your point, the article made it clear that the phone worked fine in the Porsche.

However, that wasn't your point. You said it was the phone not the car and then chucked in some negativity about CH with the Nike/Porsche remark:

andyps said:
So the problem with the Jag was an iPhone which had nothing to do with Jaguar? Strange complaint. Maybe it will turn out there is a problem with Nike shoes which ruin the way the Porsche feels.
This thread demonstrates that there's plenty of dreary anti-CH cack clogging up the threads - the foil hat mob and trolls see to that. Duff nit-picking of his articles just adds more negativity.

Quite. Despite this, earlier in the day it was the phone that was the problem and it was wrong to criticise the car.

As has been said by others, hats off to CH for an interesting article and joining in the debate.

There'll certainly be few 20-somethings in a car so vast, yes.

There are few youngsters in Porsches full stop I guess. You've got to be a keen youngster to afford the insurance and running costs.

its not clear from the original posting: did you or PH actually buy this diesel porsche, or is it a loaner from Porsche UK?
