I've started looking at UK Turbo's recently, the prices they seem to go for mean I could probably run one as a second car alongside the 9-3 as the daily driver.

This looks spot on, annoyingly it's up for sale 6 months too soon for me.

I've recently bought a totally standard 2000 turbo from a friend on here - it's great fun and is ideal to run every day. I'm really pleased with it and it's better than I expected. The one thing I've never understood is why they went to all of the effort to install a switch to make the clock brighter! Most pointless thing I've ever came across! smile

I'm currently browsing the classifieds for 06/07 (Hawkeye) STi models (with PPP), although I'm concerned that I might find the car a little boring after a few months of ownership, coming from an Elise. I'm a hardcore Lotus enthusiast, and I've had an Elise (of some description) as a daily driver for the last 7 years! However with 5 non-fault accidents in those years, I'm fed up of fibreglass - The last incident involved the other driver leaving the scene of the accident frown

I love my Elise, but I'm interested in the STi Hawkeyes!

The bodykit is a nice subtle improvement over stock. It's fairly local to me as well. Just the wrong time of the year

I've only ever had a shot of a s1 elise, and it was very fun and felt very fast, the hawk wrx we have feels pretty rapid too, if you can live without servos/pas/abs and the noisy cab of an elise the hawk is (albeit plasticy) comfy interior wise, you do feel more protected but it still feels like it's on rails. It really is a good drivers car.

why not keep the else for weekends and get a old classic for a daily and if you get bored i'm sure you wont have lost much money over 6 months on it.

Certainly a buyer's market with anything performance petrol wise at the minute, there'll still be plenty when you have the money smile

I've lusted after one since I was no age, before I was even "into" cars. Parking up outside my gaff after an overnight boat from Liverpool was the best feeling in the world. Such an amazing car for the money and I learn something new about it every time I take it out for a proper drive - subtle feedback from here or there, how to get it to tuck into a sharp corner just that little bit better...

I've never met anyone that bought one and regretted it unless it failed them mechanically (which is rarely catastrophic - if they're looked after, they'll look after you).

Looking good. It's always nice to see a non barried UK Turbo.

Spotted this earlier today, had to stop and take a quick pic

Badge on the back said type RA, front bumper looks aftermarket.

Nice pics in your profile, the blue and gold combo always looks so right! I have a few more pressing matters to attend to in the next few months but hopefully when I'm in a position to buy I'll be able to find the right one within my budget.

After doing 100 miles today on our rutted, broken, sodden local b-roads, my thoughts have turned to Imprezas again. Can anyone offer an expert opinion on this one? It's a Type-r v3 which (apparently) is the same as a P1, only better.

What do you all think of it?

IIRC the P1 used the v5 Type-R shell, with regular v5 STi drivetrain and a slightly softer suspension setup.

The key difference is that the Type-R has the DCCD adjustable centre diff (64% rear bias when set to open) and no ABS. I love the way the DCCD cars drive, really direct and pointy with no understeer. Quicker steering rack and stiffer suspension setup than a normal WRX, you feel the bumps at low speed but it smooths out as the speed gets up.

I gave up reading the description half way through, too much info about the model (mostly wrong) and not enough about the car in question.

Version 3's, as mentioned about, share the 2 door shell but very little else with a P1 which has the phase 2 engine, 754 gearbox, different interior, different ecu, brakes and rear diff to a version 3. The car in the link looks clean enough but is sporting the wrong front bumper for the year so I'd check for accident damage, while I was on the floor I'd also take a real good look at the rear arches and up at the rear strut top from below.

I've had a type r for over 10 years now and with the right amount of power they're had to beat.

Type R's are the most fun of all Impreza's, including New Age cars
