This in manual and without the rear spoiler. Hell, maybe even with a Chasseur twin turbo conversion.

For a daily driver I would probably choose the car my father had a the time, an Alfa 164 3.0 V6, have owned many since and despite being front wheel drive they still handle well, like a big hot hatch. Love Alfa 75s but I just can't get comfortable in them.

For something special it would have to be a Merc 190E Evo 2, I saw one in the summer of 1990 on the Costa del Sol. In the dark under the street lamps it looked amazing, well it did to a 16 year old!

For myself a 20v Quattro

For the weekend

It was a daily driver question, not a "choose a few to suit each occasion" hehe

Nice choices though!

There were some great cars about in the early 90's.

You could recognise makes and models from as far away as you could see them, different profiles, different headlights, different everything. Not as much variation now it seems.

Ok it's a '92 - but I use it almost daily and I love it!

cloud9 That is lovely - a proper Merc from the era. A stark contrast to the blinged up tarts handbags they turn out today cloud9

Not so sure about within brands, look at a bmw E34 and an E32 for example. Or a Mercedes 190e vs a W124 or W140. They look very similar but different sizes. I'd say the current crop look more different.

Its like been in a toy shop with all the different ideas. biggrin

Compelling case to be made for the 405, Mk 1 Nissan Primera, LS 400, Mk 2 Golf and Classic Saab 900 or a 9000.

If one could find a Merc 190 WITHOUT a black interior and a decent spec - I think I could have one of those - or an Audi Coupe with one of the 5 cylinder engines.

Could probably squeeze a Ur Quattro - 20 valve version in.

But for something random - which ive actually driven - AND LIKED

Okay that ones a J reg but you could buy a new Galant of that model in 1990 so its in biggrin

Edit - that's not the actual car I drove - its just one I found on google images - someone posted it on retrorides

Ok, if it has to be just one car, and given my status now as a dad, it would have to be a 560SEL, Mercedes's finest hour:

I'd probably run the 1990 model year car that until 2010 was actually my daily driver and that I still own today. I'd take a new 1990 IROC-Z, the last of the IROCs.

Can't fault it, it was a great DD for many many years.

E36 325i (august 1990 according to wikipedia)

I just have a soft spot for the E36, so to drive a new one without rusty arches and wobbly suspension would make me so happy.
I'm pretty sure these didn't come out until 1991. I've seen them on J-plates but were any registered on H-plates? Posted in the spirit of the thread though, so I'll let it slide smile

Christ almighty! 10 pages in and I can't believe noone has suggested it yet. I'll take an F40 please. Don't care if it's not ideal as a daily driver either. Didn't Jamie Beeston on here drive an F40 everyday until recently?
