Does the Fiesta ST sound good? I only really remember the pops and bangs.
I like it, it doesn't sound great inside the cabin but with the window down and the exhaust in sport it has a nice bassy warbly sound. The new Focus has a decent sound to it as well for a stock system as far as I know, and the i30N is quite impressive
If it sounds anything like my old Triumph Daytona 675 then it'll be a winner.

I don't get the weird obsession with interiors on a forum for car driving enthusiasts but each to their own.
!
I guess it boils down to the fact, if it is a daily driven car you will spend most of the time not going fast and waiting for those über rare moments when you can cane it. I don't believe many will be bought JUST for track use etc.

FWIW I wouldn't buy a car solely on an interior but if it was close decision with something else I wanted, it MIGHT be enough to sway it. I will say having had three imprezas, I am accustomed to Japanese interiors.
Exactly, it’s not the be all and end all, but if it is your only car and you use it as a daily a half decent interior takes on a bit more importance especially when you’re being asked to hand over £33k. Yes I know there’s loads of engineering and bespoke parts to the car, but you probably won’t feel the benefit sat in traffic on the ring road on your way home.

A Golf GTI down your fave b road is quite a car in terms of a-b pace. I agree though this is a very special and perfect for our roads. VW Golf Clubsport S cheaper and arguably more special wink
I am thinking of selling my CSS to buy one of these.

Any larger hot hatch (such as the Focus RS mk3 which I own) would struggle on a very tight country road as you have to slow down for other traffic to fit past as it's a much bigger car. The Yaris is a much better size for tight UK country roads, and will fit past other cars and cyclists better.

However - once the roads open up, most hyper-hatches would blast past the Yaris due to having much more power (as standard).

I need the larger car for the family etc. but I'd love one of these as well - but the wife wouldn't like the (lack of) practicality.

People should keep in mind that the Yaris is mighty wide. Just as a reference the Focus RS is only two centimeters wider than it. That's hardly a big difference and that makes it actually wider than i30N, AMG A45S, M135i, etc.

Absolutely love this. But this homologation chat has me confused as I wasn't aware WRC necessitated any homologated road cars these days? If yes then where are the Hyundai, Ford, VW etc versions?

Its clearly a bespoke product, but is it actually a homologation special or are they stretching the truth a bit there?

They homologate the body shell rather than the drivetrain and other bits. I believe Toyoda decided to develop the rally car with a road version in mind from the start, so it's not a true homologation special but it is a sort of modern rally rep.

As I understand it the roof profile and body panel materials must match the production car. So they get a low carbon roof for WRC car. This is what makes it a mad thing to do. The drive train is linked only by marketing. It is very much an homologation special but its definitely not a rally car for the road.

White Speedline Turinis would look good imo, that or superturismos (if they are still made)

Want one - circuit pack, red and get the wheels re-done in silver.

Thanks for the correction!

Maybe the competition can keep up then on a tight country road beer

Almost 37000£ here in sweden with the track pack, it seems way better priced in the uk..

All the cred to Toyota for doing this, it takes balls in this day an age, thats for sure!
Despite the price I was still interested however I spoke to my local dealer (here in Sweden) and they don't offer finance on this model (or the Supra). I really don't understand why.

What a shame we don't get these amazing 0% finance deals like the UK.

Don't understand the comments saying it's a Yaris and then saying they would prefer a Fiesta ST as it's cheaper.

That there is not comparing apples with apples. The Fiesta ST is just that a Fiesta ST. There will be a hell of a lot driving around your cities and towns, running riot on the streets. If it it's an actual ST it will be a rep of some 1.0 Fiesta with ST bits put on it.

This on the other hand will not be like any other Yaris as it shares 5 things with the standard Yaris. This Yaris will hold it's value in 5 years time and be worth a lot more than the Fiesta ST. Any limited edition car like this Yaris holds value pretty well. Wouldn't surprise me if these will be around £20k in 5 years or possibly go up in value depending on how many they actually sell.

Personally would love to buy this but I don't have that sort of money laying around.

It's not exactly terrible though, is it? If anyone that's thinking about buying one of these decides that actually, it's not for them because the interior materials aren't quite as touchy-feely nice as an Audi then they're most definitely on the wrong website. And they're welcome to whatever dull but worthy car they end up with.

I'd rather have a great chassis and middle of the road interior than the other way round. Imagine how much more it might cost if they'd spent the same amount developing interior materials as they seem to have spent on the bits that (ought to) matter to driving enthusiasts.
