It’s actually very interesting that so many “petrol heads” actually do not put premium fuel into their cars - rather cheapest supermarket fuel.
The wagon runs just fine on cheap fuel.

The MR2 needs 98 at a minimum, and is prone to detonation even then (high compression, tuned for 100 octane).

So who are these "petrol heads" you are referring to?

ps Does cheap fuel count as tat?

The only car I've had that it's made the slightest bit of difference to, other than simply costing more, was my Cerbera - even then it may just have been placebo effect.

And nor is it anything to do with stuff people like adding to their cars that some might view as tat.

Supermarket fuel worked fine in my 4.5 Cerbera but it ran on an Emerald ECU and was specifically mapped for 95RON. There was no benefit to it running on 98RON or any other brand of fuel. Made the same power regardless. In fact, 98RON may have actually caused a minor loss in power on one test run. 98RON has a slightly lower calorific value than 95RON specifically because the additional octane dilutes the fuel.

I remember Ford badges in colours other than blue were a big thing in the 90s - I was never sure if that was an aftermarket thing or if the colours had any significance. Anyone know?
Old style Ford badges were really easy to colour change; remove badge, rub off blue paint from back of badge (being very careful not to remove any of the faux silver) and then repaint colour of your choice. I made black ones to go with my black mkI XR2.

My pal has an e46 M3. I think he said his M3 has less M badges on it than any new M-sport car.
My 320d MSport has a really small (5x10mm) M badge on the steering wheel, and nothing else.

Me neither. It does seem to generally a certain demographic that get all annoyed by some Scandinavian teenager. Personally, I decided long ago that wasting energy on random strangers who I'll never actually meet is a futile exercise.
Sure it's not just taking the Mickey for a bit of a laugh? I'm not annoyed by her in the slightest, but the sticker posted above made me chuckle.

Saw a C class merc driving through Leeds yesterday. The guy had stuck an AMG badge and the letters AMG in front of the CDI badging. Daft bugger had started with the badge and left not quite enough room for the G, before the C. It was squeezed in and slightly skewewd and about 5 mm higher!!

Summed up the idiocy of it I thought.

The previous owner of my car saw fit to install these lights on the underside of all 4 doors. It’s a 320d.

I cringe every time I get out of it in the dark, and hope nobody sees.
Stick a piece of black tape over where the light comes out, and you won't have to cringe any more. Either that or you could replace them with ones which project a badge saying "320d" for a more ironic effect....
I’ve been trying to find the standard clear lenses but it seems you can only buy the whole unit at £30 a pop. Not sure the cringe is enough to justify £120, so tape it is.
Not for yours obviously but other owners could turn the lens upside down to give an indication of their character wink

I did the same thing in the 90's and that same skill was used 10 years later by me to change the colour of the Pink 'I' badge on my import Impreza to a more subdued Blue.

Seeing as this is the most recent thread on the subject, i thought i'd drop this here rather than the Badly modified thread.

Looks like a version of the Jag leaper on the front end of a 160 Trophy. Not the first choice of car i'd have thought someone would chuck one on. It's one of the bolt through ones, rather than stick on, so that's going to leave a nice hole when the next owner pulls it off.

And a nice hole in any pedestrians unlucky enough to be in contact...
