Lots of demand, nothing to sell. I've got 53 going out this month which is about half of what I would usually do for September
Is that normal for a dealership of a reasonable size?Seems quite low to think a dealership could get by on 100 cars on a busy month although depending what sort of cars.

For the salespeople on here, how is the new "71" registration period going?
Still high levels of demand?
very high demand just cannot supply the cars.Still high levels of demand?
Pretty much every enquiry on a new car goes the same, It could be 6 months before it arrives and no i cant value your part exchange right now we would have to value it at the time of delivery if you are prepared to wait.

How are people generally reacting to this? I'm in my 60's and have bought many new cars for myself and family. The longest I've ever waited was 3.5 weeks and that was at the height of the WLTP shortages - and the dealer loaned us a courtesy car as the one we were replacing had been written off. When I got a late mk1 Tiguan for wife there was talk of 3-4mths - local dealer went through a spreadsheet and found one in the exact colour and spec we wanted which was "at port". He said it could be 4-6 wks. 8 days later it was at the dealership and I had to get them to hold it for the new registration.
There's a thing in our business "sell what you got" - there do seem to be cars kicking around, are they not available to all dealers?
I got the Tiguan serviced earlier this week and based on what I've read on here I was expecting the dealership to be like a desert. It wasn't quite as rammed as it normally is, but there were still a lot of cars there (used).

yes we sell every unit suzuki send us that includes cars meant for demos, so at the moment we have 3 cars left to sell in september, 2 swifts and 1 s cross, anything else is next year most likely.
no not available to all dealers, you can ask to swap but dealers are not bothering and keeping what they have.
used cars are saving us right now

Why can't you lot update your listings when you sell a car?
Getting on my tits now
Basic business sense - prioritise the activities that will make you money. Clearing up ads that aren’t relevant any more does not generate money - so it gets deprioritised behind everything that does generate money. Getting on my tits now
Not in the trade (so what do I know), and I too have been very angry about it before
I don't mean this to come off as it probably will, but why are finance quotes such a pain to generate correctly. I've had it a couple of times now. Wrong car, wrong spec, everything bundled in despite saying not to etc.
I know some of it can't be helped, but by example I wanted a quote on a specific car, and what I got was a different car and options and money etc. When I pointed this out he said the vin was showing the other car. I said that may be the case but the two clearly are different to the tune of about eight grand.
Did they change it? Nope. How can I use a finance quote that is completely wrong but expected me to commit?

On an average year we'd sell around 1600 vans. We're lucky as I deal with several converters who (luckily) pre order large numbers and that's seen us through this year as supply has been awful. If we get 1000 build slots this year I'd be surprised in all honesty.
The car showroom can fit circa 35 or so cars in without looking overloaded, I went in to the office yesterday for the first time in 3 or 4 weeks and we had 11 cars in there. And 2 of those are sold units...

Before I commence the dance, anybody happen to know what the lead times are currently on a factory order RS3?
Spec depending, anywhere from 3 - 9 months.Vorsprungs will be longest lead time.
Will know more in the next week or two as production starts and factory communicates more accurate lead times.

Not as bad as I was expecting plus the missus doesn’t like blacked out wheels or carbon/black plastic trim so she won’t be going for the Vorsprung anyway.Vorsprungs will be longest lead time.

Thank you.
Also, how much of your commission is based on these add ons like protection packs and tyre and gap insurance.
Twice I've had a dealer add them onto the finance quote whilst I was test driving and at no point did they mention they were optional, just that they're there to protect me...(obviously I told my MIL they are very optional and to get them removed)
