After watching the RS3 saloon video linked (didn't enjoy the owner chat and his seatbelt, but external video parts were well shot and edited) the M5 one came up. It sounded awesome. The guy drives like an idiot and although not a guarantee, the way he was shifting meant that he could have been a contributing factor to the gearbox

Although, to be fair, with that noise I would too biggrin

Owner is too cool for seatbelts. Pillock.
Hadn't noticed that originally not cool.
To be fair he doesn´t seem to be the brightest guy ... and I´d bet he was on drugs.

There are a lot of comments about that.
I’m no prude. Here we have hard evidence of seriously excessive speed, no belts. The ‘owner’ may also be involved in some criminality.
I think it’s unfair to make assumptions on what the guy is doing for work. But he’s definitely a bit of a tool for not wearing his seatbelt.

If you don’t want to wear it at least use VCDS and code out the warnings or buy a seatbelt plug so you don’t have to sit on the belt. smile
I said ‘may’. And isn’t it a red flag for various authorities. Profiling? I don’t think it’s unfair at all. He looks like a druggy with 100k in cars. Look at me! Well let’s take a good look indeed.

Really enjoy Joe Achilles videos.

He makes the car the focal point and talks to the viewer as one - very much like Harry Metcalfe - which can't be said for Shmee and others.

At the start, why does the passenger have a woman's hand bag on? Genuine question.
lots of men wear bags these days, not exactly new

the no seat belt thing comes from people who steal cars, makes it easier for them to get out when in a police chase

So erm, I've not posted in years but I felt this was worth digging out the account.

Basically I spoke to the guy (Edd) that has the Ruby red M3 that Living Life Fast 'reviewed', bumped into him at meet and discussed the review etc. I mentioned about insurance to which he said nothing was mentioned.

This then lead me to ask Ricky "Are you actually insured to drive these cars on a fully comp basis ?" on various social media platforms to which I received no reply at all and then subsequently have been blocked on Instagram.

It may well be that he is, but surely he would have replied yes of course I am rather than blocking people and ignoring the comments. Even if he is insured 3rd party that is madness as by his own admission he barely has a pot to piss in.

Just a word of warning to anyone that is considering letting him drive your car.

With balance in mind, I really enjoy the content he creates especially when most of it is filmed very local to me.

It’s blatantly obvious that he’s just a chancer taking the piss with joyrides in everyone’s pride and joy, it will end in tears, I’d put money on it.
The fact that totally ignores the subject of insurance tells you everything.
More the fool anyone who hands over their keys!

How can he be called a chancer? It's not like people have no idea what to expect, his videos are very public. If someone wants to lend him a car on a gentleman's agreement then that's their choice.

I'm more confused as to why LLF just doesn't reply to the insurance questions saying he has sufficient insurance coverage. Even if it's not true, it's not like we can check. Seems more practical than blocking and deleting everything.

No luck this time around, sorry. Maybe next time. There’s a video here you can pick apart though: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nMV8bGip4ww

I think this thread highlights just how much the youtubers target audience and pistonheads members have very little overlap, the videos that everyone here likes do poorly and the videos everyone on here hates do really well.
This sums it up quite well for me; what some car enthusiasts find interesting, others don’t. Things like Project Binky are up there with some of the best content on YouTube, but the viewership is unlikely to be the younger generation (I sound like a senior citizen now), who don’t have the patience for it. They much prefer short, sharp content, preferably with lairy coloured wrapped Lambos and such, performing rev battles in public spaces and causing nuisance (it’s ‘sick’ and such). Informative pieces don't have an appeal to some – and while it’s a generalisation, things like a race car build vlog (my half-baked attempt as an example) will only receive a small viewership because it’s a bit nerdy, a bit boring and not outlandish and silly enough for the majority of viewers. It’s something more likely to be well received on PH as the build thread for the Vette garnered some interest.

We all like different things, which doesn’t mean it’s rubbish if it’s not to your taste – YouTube’s big enough to find something stimulating for everyone.

Modifying and vlogging a popular, relatively easily attained hot hatch like the Focus RS, is a robust venture, because it ticks all the boxes for a viewership demographic, and Tim’s level of production quality is top tier so ought to be a success. The car itself might not be everyone’s cup of tea, but it should be remembered that back in the 1950’s and 1960’s, when hot rodding really started (after moonshine running etc), that was initially frowned upon because it was different to the norm, and seen as rebellious. The current generation of I4 / I6 tuning and modification is merely the modern equivalent of original hot rodding era.

If he was covered I’m sure he would happily prove it! The fact that it’s not remotely mentioned to an owner makes it clear enough to me.

Just seen some funny comments about PH users and this thread on the supercharged M5 video of his laugh

Shmee having a 400k Ford GT and a 800k Senna on order and 2manycars picking up a million pound F12 TDF one week, Ordering 2 Pistas the week after, then ordering a Singer while having a Zagato vaquish on his drive and the Zagato shooting brake on order, can not comprehend the wealth, caught the last few pages of the LFA thread and will delve deeper to understand the wealth when I have time.

Looking at Shmee’s garage and 2manycars, both are normal looking down to earth blokes, is it a lottery win? Someone help me understand because I don’t get it!
