but the other two would be much more difficult to shift as both of them are full of very recent VAG group tech (especially Lambo) which the board might not be keen to fall into enemy hands.
What? You mean stuff that's on sale to the general public that any other manufacturer could buy and reverse engineer? How is life under that tin foil hat? GroundEffect said:

I would have posted something similar (I was thinking more along the lines of Coke giving Pepsi their secret recipe) but as someone has posted below GM refused to pass on tech to the Chinese when Saab was up for sale and I should have remembered that. I think there was a very long thread on here about it, can't recall who did all the work on it.
VW pretty much given up on Diesel in the U.S

GM blocked the sale of SAAB to the Chinese for precisely this reason.

So.. VW are now going to convert EU5s to EU6s:

I did wonder if that would happen. Would imagine that cost will be higher than the vehicles value in a few cases.http://www.theguardian.com/business/2015/oct/09/vw...

Classic (old) VW advert that must sum up the way the VW teams feel.

Haha,
Anyone who drives 'off cycle' is putting out more NOx than allowed in the homologation test. That means all of us who go derv then.
Considering what the expected 'remap' will do with regards to shovel loads of EGR then I'll give it a miss thankyouverymuch.
So, to be clear, you would rather murder baby seals than lose 10bhp?Anyone who drives 'off cycle' is putting out more NOx than allowed in the homologation test. That means all of us who go derv then.

“We will review all planned investments, and what isn’t absolutely vital will be cancelled or delayed. I will be completely clear: this won’t be painless.”
I would guess that pretty much confirms what I suggested a few pages back.
Bye-Bye Bugatti.
Bye-Bye Red Bull F1 deal.
Bye-Bye Audi or Porsche Le Mans teams. (possibly both.)
Bye-Bye.
I wonder if this puts either Skoda or, more likely, Seat in jeopardy? I can see them offloading Lambo and Ducati as well. “We will review all planned investments, and what isn’t absolutely vital will be cancelled or delayed. I will be completely clear: this won’t be painless.”

The two problem children are Skoda and SEAT. I can't see anybody coming forward to buy them and they might have to be the sacrificial lambs to appease the markets and the German taxpayer.
I suspect that with Asian demand falling for luxury products as is demand in the oil nations those particular brands are over the top of their cycle. So there is much less appetite for any of them today than a few years ago.
And who would buy them anyway? Who is on their uppers and awash with cash and with strong and large credit lines on tap?
The whole lixury sector from gold butt plugs to space ships is over the peak and on the other side of the cycle.
I think the real issue facing VW is that there isn't going to be anyone who wants anything of theirs at any current valuation.
Might actually be better to spin off separate listings for the brands that the pension funds will buy into instead? But then how well is the Ferrari listing goin at the moment?

So, to be clear, you think fixing the affected cars will have some measurable impact on the environment, and that silly comments about murdering baby seals is a good way to make your point? Just interested...Just interested....
