I think know what barge I'm buying next if I decide to sell either the E38 or my wife's E39.
A friend of mine has a 2008 e60 saloon 535d, slightly breathed upon, nothing much, injectors, tune and DPF-delete and I reckon it would leave my e39 M5 in a cloud of black smoke at any speed quite easily, it's bloody fast, not quick, it's properly fast, seen 180 mph on the speedo and gps multipe times. Even sounds rather nice in a fast and the furious, turbo whistly kind of way. Fully specced aswell, M-sport, nappa comforts, hud, individual killer stereo etc. If you drive it like you stole it it'll still return 29 mpg. Still don't want one, Mein Gott!

The only thing I cautioned him over was that a few years a chap I knew had a 335d Saloon that he had similarly re-mapped and he found that possibly because of the lack of an LSD (?) it became almost undriveable. There was just so much torque that it would just constantly break traction at the drop of hat. He ended up putting it back to its original map.
Speaking of the barge meet - the 760 is still spluttering & refusing to give me a fault I can actually find - it’s now time to get it to a specialist.
This therefore means I’ll be coming in the M6. It’s a different sort of barge. It’s Interlagos Blue, so it’s relatively unsubtle & should be easy to spot!
Looking on maps, might I suggest the far end of Anson Rd / Lysander Ave junction as the place to be? (I.e. furthest away from museum building, and far end from the ‘plane). (My OCD means I always need to know/do stuff like this - sorry!)

If the weather is reasonable (forecast suggests it may be) I'll bring the A124; if it's foul I'll bring the (diesel!) CLS - it will be its last barge meet as it's going, having been displaced by a wholly non-barge thread purchase.

A reminder to anyone that hasn't been there before, that you need to follow signs to the museum, which follows the road towards and then beyond the entrance to the RAF base. I'll aim to be there around 1000-1015 hrs.

No "barge" as such. Just a few old Mercedeseseses and a keen follower of the thread

Would you go silver, or Burgundy with a grand in the hand?
I think silver because all other things being equal in say 15k miles time, for resale, 155k on the Burgundy one makes it feel way older and dare I say sheddy than the silver one, but then, you'll still always be able to sell it for £1k ( I know sheddy is too harsh but).
I could flip a coin for it tbh.

Indeed, I hope it's dry! Pity you're not there chapI think I'll set off a bit earlier than I would otherwise to give me some margin for traffic shenanigans. Aim for 0930 but arrive at 1000, something like that
