Aren’t these with a chassis that’s related to the Vauxhall Chevette?

My mate had a Piazza Turbo. It looked like a Renault Fuego Turbo but cheaper looking.

It always reminded me more of a Scirocco

Came across a video about the coolest car Japanese car you've never heard of: Isuzu Impulse/Piazza RS Turbo

Were these sold in the UK? I was still a kid in the late 80s.
Yes, they were.
From the era of when GM owned everything including Isuzu and Lotus, hence the in-house input from Lotus to smarten up the handling of the Piazza.
Also sold in Australia as the Holden Piazza.

Easy to forget the Piazza. Quite cute with good things going for it but haven't seen one in decades.
Possibly car-lore but I recall tales of the odd turbo engine from rotten Piazzas finding their way in to the similarly na engined Bedford Midi or two.

Saw a Piazza at Bromley Pageant a few years back. Crazy dashboard that looked like the brief was “Atari meets Star Wars with a hint of Citroen”. All the controls on weird keyboards/stalks around the steering wheel.

I was well aware of the Piazza Turbo because at the time I was on my 2nd Lotus and had heard about their 'swap.' There's only about a dozen left on the road according to howmanyleft.

Lotus improved the handling of the car (and their 'handling by Lotus' badges started appearing on other makes too). In exchange, they got a good deal on the Isuzu turbo engine which was used in the late 80s and early 90s FWD Lotus Elans. They didn't cover up the Isuzu markings either, which some other manufacturers tend to do (Morgan, I'm looking at you here) smile .

Zastava Koral In. The "modernized" Yugo for 2002-2008

Unlike previous Yugo models which most had old Fiat engines, this one got a Peugeot 1124cc fuel injected petrol engine with 60 hp, and was one of the fastest Yugos you could get, unlike previous models that had 45 or 55 hp. In addition it got "Modernized styling upgrades" This was one of the last Yugos to ever be produced.

Looks to be fair degree of Talbot Samba DNA there.

Saw a couple of these at a garage I was parked opposite the other day. In the flesh it looks like the PT cruiser's fat american cousin.

Took this picture myself, preparing to put it in the misbadged thread.

Until I was educated otherwise a few hours ago.

Had no idea this was a legit model.
