Gents, we have a real life, true comedian amongst us....brilliant, just brilliant!
awe man, dont be like that, some one was going to say it eventually you know, just be happy it was someone who no one knows so it doesnt create an uncomfortable "ahah that funny" reply because you feel you have to. r1ch said:
All the best Mr Atkinson.
I'm glad he drives that car regularly, instead of wrapping it up in bubble wrap like some people with exotics. Cars are for driving. Doesn't look too bad but you can't tell much from that picture.

Especially with those that buy the cars but then don't run them out of concern for depreciation and servicing costs. The measure of whether you can truly afford the car is whether or not you're able to drive it as you wish AND keep it in showroom condition. Many don't consider this before they purchase and often try to get repairs & maintenance done "on the cheap" - ruining the car in the process.

Rebuild or write off?, even with Mclaren's repair ability that is some serious damage.
I'd say the tub looks okay in that photo which I would have thought would be the major issue. The rear end is hardly cheap, but the fact that it is detached isn't as much an issue as it looks I suspect.I think that's a case of 'can the tub be rebuilt?' I don't know enough about carbon fibre to know if they can just graft knew pieces on. Hopefully the block is intact, there can't be many spare engine sat on BMW's shelves.
Fair play though, the F1 has had it's rear end effectively torn off, caught fire, and he only suffered a bruised shoulder.

You cocksocket.
Seems like a lot of super cars will split in 1/2 like that given a big enough crash. An Enzo that crashed did a similar thing. Engine ripped out taking the back 1/2 of the car, but the passenger cell was in one piece.
All the best to Mr Atkinson. That's going to sting a bit I'd think.

Oh crap! I'm glad he got out of it relatively unscathed. It does amaze me at the sort of accidents in super cars people can walk away from. Just goes to show how safe they are.
The damage looks bad, but from that all be it tiny picture the cabin looks relatively intact. I've no doubt Rowan will have it repaired, glad he isn't badly injured.Likely we may never know exactly what happened, RA isn't the type to take a interview in Heat magazine!
I have a mate on traffic in Northants Police who just texted me that Mr Atkinson is currently being interviewed under suspiscion of dangerous driving, apparently he has requested a lawyer to be present and has only spoken once since arriving, he looks slightly dishevelled and is not entirely with it.
