I wonder how long PH mods will allow such blatant harvesting to continue?

What on earth are you on about? You think a discussion thread about it is just a way to steal posters from PH?

Unless there is a direct sign-on and not through Facebook, I am not interested.

I take it you haven't noticed the various links from posters recruiting members so that their "Tribe" can go live?

Signed up. Is it just like a Twitter/Instagram feed but just cars? Or is there more to it than that?

I see nothing especially nefarious about it.

Ok, quite easy to grasp. A bit like loads of liked Facebook pages that all pop up in a timeline that you can add to/comment on. Quite like the idea, might as well waste more car time on there.

Bit of a hot hatch fan, so...

Feel free to join/follow/comment or whatever it is we should be doing

x2.

I used to add lots of content to threads on other forums, and it gradually dawned on me that my (free) input was what was keeping certain parts of the forums alive, as people would visit it purely to see photos I'd posted. Felt a bit like I was doing nothing more than generating traffic (= ad revenue) for other people. This thread appears to be filled with people begging visitors to like (or follow? I dunno) their tribes. I wonder how many people would be flocking to be part of it if it didn't have Clarkson's, Hammond's and May's name above its door.

Emperor's new clothes, much?

I imagine like all the social networks it's about 'getting' followers, and the more you get the more you get out of it. Imagine if your tribe had a large following, you could do things like all the vloggers etc and make some sort of lifestyle through it.

I've just set up a hot hatch 'tribe', more for fun and out of curiosity than anything else, but I reckon you could get 'hot hatches' on test if you had a big enough following and review them/photograph them on there etc.

So on that note follow my tribe!!!

I see one of the investors is Jim Breyer who was an early investor into Facebook. No idea whether he is still invested but you could see why this would encourage the link up.

Regardless, the 15mill or so invested in it isn't mega bucks by start up standards and for all the talk of sector and channel approach, unqigue algorithms driving unique content and subsequent native advertising, and at risk of pointing out the bleeding obvious, this is all just an eloquent articulation that we are erecting a rather large advertising hoarding and doing our best to drive footfall to it. Ie social network advertising

Nowt wrong with that but this Friendbook hook up may mean they don't get the socio-economic groups that advertisers may prefer. I choose not to record the lives of me or my entire family on a server in a mountain cave in eastern California (merely my musings here wherever the fook haymarket stashes this tripe) and drivetribe won't entice me into facebook and presumably I'm not alone. My wife uses it to see what others do rather than share per se and the nonsense that some people put on there is a scary window into the mind of the educationally subnormal. In fact, presumably the perfect target audience to be sold st they don't need with money they don't have. Which advertisers may clamour for.

Er, in which case this idea would seem to be complete genius - as you were chaps. That is all.

I found a lot of the picture heavy threads were incredibly slow to load, so gave up in the end.

There seems to be a lot of duplication, as if people aren't looking at what tribes are already there before setting their own up. It already looks very fragmented before it opens up fully.
