Maybe. The Renault certainly isn't as ugly...

And an interesting fact about why the Alfa GT looks slightly elongated at the back. It was originally designed as a folding hard top when such things were all the rage, as a rival to the 3 series and Volvo V70. The roof was meant to retract into that cavernous boot and still be a four seater but rumours are that Alfa ran out of development money or time and decided to go with a hardtop coupe despite already having the GTV on sale and the Brera on the drawing board. Bertone later tried to persuade Alfa to make this as well...

...so they could build it in house for them but it fell through. The styling makes more sense seen as a convertible.
Yes, and any excuse to post that 'photo. The coupe did end up with very useful boot space though.

Yes, it's a beast of a car. But looks rather awkward.

Can't help but think a Brerra is a hatch back, Much like the other suggestions, A Sirocco even? I guess the true definition of a coupe is getting lost in translation as time go on.

It seem's like every 2 door car under the sun has been posted, Subjective threading at it's finest.

The Lexus SC430 has always just looked like a soft lined blob of metal in my eyes.

10 pages and not a solitary mention of this? Undeniably a good car, and one I happened to really want some years ago, but just look at that front end...

Alfa Brera, I never understood the love for the design of these, all I see is a big fat arse, the Spider looked great; Coupe' not so:

Agree with this completely. Also, looked dated the day it was launched. I love Italian cars but the Brera is a big no no for me.

Great shout, looks bleeding awful from a rear 3/4 view, something not quite right about the styling
To me the whole thing just looks like its been sat on
My thoughts exactly from when I first saw one - VW got an Elephant in to style it, sat it on the bonnet first then the rear after !

Yes! I have had a few Mk2 Golfs over the years and always fancied a 2 door Jetta, seems that the Yanks call them coupes and it seems to have been picked up over here too.

Agree, I think it looks fantastic, nothing awkward about it.

The Prelude on the other hand I wholeheartedly agree with, they had fantastic engines and even 4ws which was unusual back in the day but that front end, dear god what where they thinking.

W124 shape Mercedes C63 AMG Coupe. Looks far too elongated and gawky. The C63 was design to be a saloon and looks much better in that variant.

The coupe was quite literally an afterthought and it shows...
W124? The 1980s E Class?

And in what 'quite literal' way was it an afterthought?

If we are talking about the same car you're right, it looks awful, but I bet it wasn't an afterthought.
Sorry, my bad. W204 C Class. I just don't think it looks quite right having seen the saloon. With that said, if the saloon didn't exist I may not have the same opinion.

Not a howler of a car by any means, but not ideal.

Nope, sorry I have to disagree with you there. I never liked the look of them. They never sat right on the road to me, and I wasn't keen on the design either.

I remember Quentin Wilson describing them gushingly as "looking good enough to stop a speeding train" or something like that, but they did absolutely nothing for me. Very wooden to drive too, as we're most Vauxhalls from that era.
One of the few cars to make me carsick as a passenger, something wierd about the ride settings.
err, I think that was just Vauxhalls of a given era. When my family first moved to this country, the first car we owned was an 'A' reg Astra 1.6 GL 5-door hatchback. My dad (who didn't hold a UK license) couldn't ride in it for much more than 15 minutes before feeling terrible. I could handle being in the front but being in the back made me, and all my school mates, feel ill. Proper 'Pull over I'm gonna hurl' ill. Four years later and we had a Cavalier (Ascona) 1.6L - possibly the worst car we've ever owned. Same deal, everyone who rode in it had to fight the spew. Another four years passed and we upgraded to a Cavalier (Vectra) SRi - all of a sudden no carsickness. It's crazy to think that for eight years my dad and I both thought we were just prone to car sickness in general - then all of a sudden, 'cured'.
I used to go out with a girl who did genuinely suffer from car sickness badly enough to even get it when she was the driver. Funnily enough we didn't last longer than a few months, haha!

I've never had much love for how the three door coupe Evoque looks... suffers from that slightly awkward look of too much metal between B post and D pillar. Reminds me of a pitbull to continue the dog analogy... wide, aggressive looking at the front but then runs out of beef the further you get to the back.

On the other hand this is a thing of beauty, how right a coupe can be without resorting to looking like a dog doing anything.

Perhaps i'm in the minority here, but the E-Type Coupe for me has always been a lesson in how to take a beautiful car and make it look all wrong. The height, the A pillar angle, the B pillar angle, the sitting dog rear...

It always gave me the impression of having been designed to have pop up lights that were then outlawed and had to be changed at the last minute. Still a disappointment after the much better looking predecessor.
