Why am I not surprised....
I've made it painfully obvious what is wrong with your figures. You just chose to ignore that post, and reply to this one.

So yes, your 'survey' is proof of precisely dick. Nothing. Nada. fk all.

I'm getting bored of asking, but why do you care much about this? Are you still standing by your ridiculous 'running the gauntlet' BS from earlier?

Why does it upset you so much, what other people choose to drive and why?
rofl oh dear

So you've just proved my point - 54% of people agree with me about SUV drivers specifically being the most annoying.
Or 54% of people are envious, bitter and reverse snobs. That sounds quite low actually.

A poll taken from a firm supplying company cars is never going to favour SUVs, so many people tend to not like what they can't have.

Yeah quite possibly, and it does sound a bit low.

I think this car makes sense even though I don’t like the looks. I spend a lot of time in Oxshott Surrey and I see as many GL/GLS’s as ML/GLE’s so BMW are late to the party if anything and if it’s not a success here, I’m sure it will be in the US, this won’t take any sales from LR though, I’ve never seen somebody with a Range Rover change to a BMW and vice versa

In all fairness, on 1-10 scale of evidence, that is a 0 - it is just perception (I am not taking sides here). Perception led to Brexit.
Been a long day at work for me today.
Just to save me having to read the whole thread from where I last saw it, could someone please just tell me if we have reached PH bingo full house with a reference to brexit?

This is just ridiculous looking.

Cutting the grill off at the top of the lights would have looked so much better.

The sides and rear are not too bad given its size but that grill...

£72k 30d, £74k 40i, £87k M50d
Seems terribly cheap. Is anyone actually going to rent one of these when it clearly announces that while you randomly want an abnormally large car you can’t actually even afford to rent a Range Rover, let alone a Bentayga!

I reckon they will sell much better in places like the US, ME and China where it won’t be the poor person’s land whale of choice?

Despite the difference in fuel economy, who's going to buy the little diesel when the petrol is £2k more and has an extra 75bhp?
Everyone. Because diesel suits these types of cars. And filling up is a pain even if you are rich enough not to care about the cost.

I guess it’s more determined by any difference in the monthly cost, BIK or VED rather than the actual list price?

A petrol would not suit this at all, MPG would be sub 20, any weight figures?

But even if you rent the cheapest option and take the badges off and add an M Sport plastic trim you still have the problem that the most expensive version of this car is less than half the price of the most expensive Range Rover and a third the price of a Bentayga so you’re going to look like you subsist on benefits and are on your way to a food bank.

We'll get used to it. Cars that start out looking ever so slightly OTT end up ageing well. Besides, super-grille seems to indicate the absolute top of the heap, where no modesty is required nor desired, see Rolls et al.

We don't even give a second glance nowadays to the 407's gopping gape, when that came out I could not erase the image out of my mind of this car prowling the countryside scooping up and swallowing what would otherwise ordinarily end up as roadkill.

Any news on the essential pieces of specification that drivers of such a motorcar simply cannot manage without?

I'm thinking remote remote central locking, so the driver doesn't need to trouble him or herself pressing the remote button on the key fob, they can use an app or even just the power of thought.

Heated indicator stalks are something that has been cruelly overlooked and it's about time a premium brand fitted them.

We'll assume it's got one of them round gear shifters that appear, as if by magic, when you do whatever convoluted thing you need to do on a lugzury car that is the equivalent of putting the key in the ignition.

Mood lighting? I bloody hope so.

Some aspirational statement sweeping across the super HD dash as you start the car?

What about the sound of a smooth V8 petrol piped to the outside so passers-by aren't aware that you bought the base 2.0L diesel?

The petrol, whilst making less torque, makes it over the same range of engine speed as the diesel, actually, they both make it from 1500rpm, the petrol makes it for a lot longer.

The MPG figures they quote are in the 30s. Obviously it'll depend on the sort of driving you do, but i doubt they'll average sub-20 unless you live in the middle of London, or at the other end of an Autobahn from your workplace.
A diesel 3l x5 is lucky in my experience to consistently get over 30mpg. I had one for a few months and it averaged 28mpg and I wasn’t exactly hammering it.

No way a petrol x7 will be above 20mpg day to day unless you are constantly only on the motorway. Even the diesel will struggle to crack 30mpg.

So you've just proved my point - 54% of people agree with me about SUV drivers specifically being the most annoying. Seeing as the stats are not given for the other 45% we can't know whether for example just one other type of car makes up that whole 46%, but its most likely just a spread of other types, which means SUV drivers outweigh the others by quite a lot.

Hence it's not just in "my" mind, it's in the minds of more than half of the motoring public.
The way statistics work though might argue differently....just because 46% vote no, doesn't mean 54% automatically voted yes. Im possible to say without the data.

From my (non-SUV) seat, SUV drivers are far from the most annoying. Prius drivers take that, closely followed by Honda Jazz drivers. EVs come a close second, anything made from a 'new economy' next, then small diesel engined Audi drivers....
Last time I drove an SUV the worst thing about it was the stupid behaviour from people with JimSuperSix’s attitude who were judging me and my driving standard by the body style of my vehicle. Actively moving to prevent the white X5 from changing lanes and parking across its nose when trying to exit a side-road. The same pricks who want to engage in conversation when I’m filling up an M240i, or give a thumbs up if you’re driving an MX5 with the roof open.
People are judgemental tts.

It is interesting and revealing to see how the world really works when you drive different cars on the same roads and how you have to adjust your expections to suit.

I can drive one car across London and be let out at junctions, have people move across out of the way and never be carved up, even be given assistance parking and then take the same route in a different car and never be let out, never have someone move out of the way and be continually carved up. Such is the rich tapestry of humanity.
