At last with that plate you know what it's meant to read even on correct spacing.Interesting sales pitch though - buy it for £27k or give the seller your classic Porsche in exchange for the vastly overpriced plate

Yep, but if it makes them happy then so what.
Several reasons.Firstly, it is illegally spaced (and still doesn't make a word.)
Secondly, it may be possible this was the original 2004 plate but the coincidence seems unlikely.
If not, this person sat down, thought about it and paid £250 for it, to mis-space it and be adjudged an idiot.

I have a couple of old 911’s knocking about the yard of my furniture shop. I would probably offer £25 for the Coaster plate with £285,000 cash my way. Covid price, no physical contact, nationwide delivery possible.I currently have SOFA on the Range but got nicked the other day. This would be a top replacement.
Stay safe.

I was looking at the dvla cherished plates site today and if they actually followed through on the statement on it that says.....
It is an offence to alter, re-arrange or misrepresent a registration number.
There is a maximum fine of 1000, and the registration number can be withdrawn without compensation.
Then you wouldnt see this s
t on a daily basis. (Well not at the moment given the lockdown)

Folks just ignore the rules, take a chance, carry on regardless. It is an offence to alter, re-arrange or misrepresent a registration number.

That rule had been in place since December 1989....It is an offence to alter, re-arrange or misrepresent a registration number.

I'd suggest a more robust approach is called for.
