There have been 3 I've seen.

A white one with a bodykit a resprayed purple one with a bodykit and this one which is virtually standard apart from the engine / box - which is why I preferred it.

It needs a few bits and bobs but that's part of the fun.

I've driven it 100 miles home at 80ish the computer says 30mpg and tootling locally it says 15-20mpg.

I don't know what it's actually averaging as the Odo broke.

I've used it for the school run and trips to DIY stores etc I absolutely love it.

That is very nice, RedGriff and looks like a very neat installation thumbup

Presume it is an LS (I can't tell by looking) and how does the weight compare with the original engine? What sort of bhp does it develop?

Yes 6.0 LS2 over 400bhp and 400lbs ft as it now has a better intake and exhaust.

IIRC it adds less than 100kg (so sub 1350kg) as the rotary is light but the turbos IC etc add up.

It is VERY FAST which I suppose is obvious but I've been very disappointed with other supposedly quick cars (4.0 Chim, 5.7 Monaro etc)

Currently I'm quicker around the lanes in my 340bhp Rotary but I suspect that is because the last owner wanted more comfort - I'm swapping the Teins over and I'll get the geometry checked.

The reason I didn't like the rotary is because most of the power is above 5k which is fine on a Sunday blast but annoying on a daily driver.

If anyone is interested in V8 RX7s Papercup has an excellent thread in Readers Cars.

These, and C43 Estates, have been weighing heavily on my mind recently too. "C180" rebadging required though wink

The credit obviously goes to the builder - Carl who used a kit imported from the USA.

It was also his first engine swap !

I'd imagine he's now spent a lot more but it's a good thread with lots of info, prices and pics

If the link doesn't work Google "Papercup RX7"

mind if I ask where you found it? was it via MRC?
(just so I can keep an eye out!)

and back on-topic, here's some hopeless pretense that I haven't been solely obsessing about V8 FD's:

Just about the only way they could make it better is if they painted the carbon.
