Who has the best Garage on Pistonheads?
Discussion
I've just begun to make a start on mine. I'm a bit skint after buying the house though
I'm hoping to build a workbench in the next week or two.
I'm thinking of having the workbench at the bottom but only on the right, so that I have as much length as possible on the left side, which is the side that has easy access. It takes some maneuvering to get the car in on the right side - palm tree in the way.
Whilst the carpet will be comfortable on my back, it will be a nightmare when fluids are spilled/leaked. The previous owner left it there though.

Get some castor supports and you can wheel the car about anywhere. Mega handy for tight spaces like that.
Good idea. I'd forgotten about those things. They're the wheel-dolly things, right?I have been expecting that I will drive the car in from the left, and roughly into the middle, and work on it from there. I've yet to actually try anything yet though..

We've had carpet in our garage for 10yrs. It's had soaking wet cars drive onto it, brake fluid, oil, you name it. Ok not massive pools but spillages and grease all over. It's absolutely fine and really makes a huge different to how nice the garage is to work in.Whilst the carpet will be comfortable on my back, it will be a nightmare when fluids are spilled/leaked. Also, we've done the same thing in having the work bench only on the right - giving our left garage full length in case it's needed.

Great! Thanks! Sounds like I'm heading down the right route then. Cheers Also, we've done the same thing in having the work bench only on the right - giving our left garage full length in case it's needed.

Scotty I think you might be local. Sure I've seen your plate but can't think where. Maybe in the Cupar area? But i think there is a Cerb in Aberdeen area that is the same colour as mine as i keep getting spotted but it is not me

That's the one, shallow curved plates with 4 castors each. A little pricey but worth it.
Around £50 a pair from Machine Mart. Even less on a VAT free day. Brilliant bits of kit. We have them in the workshop and they're a God send in restrictive spaces. cheers
