I'm 19, and can tell you that some do, some don't. I'm firmly in the latter camp, having bought a car that I like despite it being devoid of 'cred', while having the means to buy and insure something with said elusive quality. So while we're on the subject of fowl, don't pigeonhole us.

Do you mind if I ask what it is then?

And a part model, ambassador for world peace?

If you are real? Why not something more 'youthful' a car/model combo?!!!!

Personally I'd go for a Lotus if I was 19
I personally like the Mercedes SLK.

I'm 19.

Even if I wanted to lease the Merc it wouldn't be possible.

You need a decent credit score to take out a lease. I have never took out a loan, had a credit card etc. Therefore my credit score will be low thus me not being able to lease a car. Surely the leaser would see a young driver with a low credit score as high risk no?

You've managed to earn enough money at just 19 whilst a student to have £30,000 in cash you can spend on a car. You won't have issues getting a lease..... surely?
Unfortunately when having a credit check, the check doesn't determine whether or not you have the funds available. smile

Hey guys.

I'm due for a new car, so I'm thinking of getting an Mercedes Benz SLK 200 AMG. However I like to switch my cars every 2/3 years or so. And I'm thinking about leasing it.

Has anyone ever leased a car, and also do I take out a contract hire or a contract purchase?

Thanks for the help.
This is from another of your posts.

And pretty good going changing your cars every 2/3 years... when you've been driving for just 2 years.
Please my friend, read the whole topic before you post an ignorant comment.

Yeah price difference. I'd rather save 10k on something else.
So why the title on this thread? Shouldn't it just be which Merc SLK, petrol or Diesel?

I'd assume from your reasoning for discounting the Porsche that value for money is key rather than driver enjoyment, so I'd suggest the Diesel would be your best bet.

I found the basic Cayman to be the most balanced package of power and chassis ability that I've ever driven. Absolutely loved it. I'm struggling to see how a Diesel SLK would come close if funds allowed to choose between the two...

Edited by plfrench on Sunday 26th February 21:22
Besides the SLK interior and dashboard looks so much better than the Cayman

Anyway, which is better for me on the SLK diesel or petrol?
Huh, you chose the slk over cayman because the merc has a nicer dashboard? Are you crazy? Or could you not talk your mum into getting the Porsche?

Geez, why do we feel the urge to reply to trolls laugh
Haha in 2 weeks, I'll prove the dumb fks like you wrong.

OP, going back to the original question I would keep the 12 plate on it until September. It's not often most people get to enjoy a new car and the reg on a car does mean something otherwise you wouldn't get so many people waiting for the reg change before picking up their new car.

Don't forget that everyone on here are powerfully built company directors so are above all this new car nonsense because all they drive are 20 year old E30's for barge money because if they had new cars then the tax man would start asking questions.

Put the new plate on when the reg numbers change. It's only £25 to hold the plate on retention which I'm assuming you've already paid seeing as you don't have the new car yet.
Well I'm selling my current car now, and went to dvla to put the plate on rentention, so I'll probably wait a month or two and then stick it on.
