If you like the car don't worry about the dealer. You'll not exactly live there. You can also get it serviced in any vat registered garage meaning as long as there is no warranty issue you'll never have to go back there.
But I can't get a decent deal.

Don't want to speak too soon but Adam at Research Garage is doing well so far. Will offer me more than what I owe on my current car but unfortunately has no campovolo grey cars in stock. He does have two cars coming in next week but won't know the colours until Friday or Monday so I could be tempted to take the plunge on a different colours if the numbers are right.

Interesting swap. The build quality is certainly not BMW standards, and my Abarth 500 Esseesse doesn't feel as well built as my old VW Polo GTI, but its more reliable.
How do you find it to drive overall?

Thanks guys.

I've been offered the following deal against a white 595 with optional white 5 petal alloys and black Abarth side stripes:

£500 deposit (px equity)
47 x£271.28
Final Instalment £7676

The car is advertised in the showroom for over £20k and the finance quote shows £17300 so quite a discount for an unregistered 64 plate.

The only query I have is the final instalment is £199 dearer than the guranteed future value - I thought they would both be the same. Any thoughts?

I also get mats and the standard exhaust - haven't asked about fuel yet though.

On the finance quote it states Mr X and then my surname - and it's their address in the address section - does that matter? The reason I'm a bit nervous about it all is because they are a 7 hour drive away if I take the plunge.

Cheers,

Martin

I wanted to buy from Research and Adam was very good but they didn't have what I was looking for in stock.

I've taken the plunge today with Meridien Milano and have no complaints so far. All going to plan, I pick up the car next Staurday (after a 7 hour drive to get there!).

Spec:

595 competizione
gara white (nice two tone colour from the pics)
tints
blue tooth
read leather sabelts
optional 17 inch white 5 petal alloys - much nicer than the standard wheels imo.
black abarth stickers on sides

Starting to get quite excited.

Get them to stand the trade cost of a vinyl wrap in the colour of your choice. Or you pay trade cost. Then everyone's happy
I don't understand that.

You were lucky getting anything at all out of them, tighter than a nuns ****.

Westover are good to do a deal with usually.
I was surprised myself - especially since I've now noticed the part leather seats as well. I guess I got lucky. Hope I like the car - certainly looks the part (imo of course) but will probably be a big change in terms of comofort for me. That said, I do very little miles due to commuting for a new job now.

The numbers you provided on what you will pay to them (if you pay it all of course) added up to almost £21k - where's the deal in that? Is it in getting the car financed for four years? I presume they move the line between unit and finance to make it work.

Of the other finance quotes I've looked at, the total amount payable was significantly more than the cost of the vehicle. what I was offered for my p/x and the fact I'm paying less in finance than the car retails at struck me as a pretty good deal..unless I'm missing something of course...

You're missing that nobody would pay anything like the supposed retail price for an outright purchase. Discounts of 10-20% are possible on most new cars.
I wasn't referring to those buying with cash - I was merely stating that I thought my particular deal was a good one given the significant discount and competitive finance. No other dealer that bothered to reply could get close.

Mrs Fallon - brand new :-)

Gutted - dealer has just called to advise that they don't have the Monza exhaust or accessory pack for the car yet.

Apparently it all arrives within a week of the dealer taking the delivery of the car but in this case, it's going to be delayed until next week because apparently the monzas are on back order.

Hate that feeling when you're all geared up for something and it doesn't go to plan.

The dealer sounded genuine enough but I find myself questioning why on earth Abarth don't send the parts that essentially make up the standard kit with the car in one go!

Bizarre!
