The cabin does have a minimalist look. And while Ford have borrowed from Tesla vis a vis a vertical tablet mounted on the dashboard... Ford have apparently included a traditional knob at the bottom -- probably to allow easy cycling and clicking on menus.

Tonight at 2:00 AM in the UK...

...is the official live streaming of the new car.

This is not a friendly time for Blighty, but it's ideal for viewing in both the US and China. PHers in Australia will also be well positioned for live viewing on their Monday.

more about tonight's live stream, here:
https://www.ford.com/powertrains/battery-electric-...

At the preceding link, you'll see that Ford have reached out to social media personalities: "...exclusive vehicle glimpses and a collaboration with 10 distinctive tastemakers."

Said "tastemakers" may or may not interest you, but this "collaboration" shows that Ford is very keen to ensure that this new and somewhat unusual vehicle is meaningful to diverse audiences. Ford obviously wants this car to be a success.

If you choose to view the live event tonight, the stream is apparently not limited to the link above. Ford has said that Facebook and YouTube will be included.

below: screen shot of "still" photography that appears on the Ford live stream page at the moment

Loads of Photos and Figures

Ford UK

Ford US
https://www.ford.com/suvs/mach-e/2021/

Some of the country differences noted earlier in this thread persist. The UK vehicle is rated at 370 miles of range (WLTP figure) while the US version is listed as 300 miles (EPA figure).

I know it's a cliche, but you could tell me that car was made my almost any manufacturer and I would believe you. Ironically, one of the few things it doesn't look like is a Mustang...
Wot? That wide boy on the corner? wink

Many descriptions of the Mach-E -- including those published by Ford themselves -- say that it's "Mustang-inspired". Ford also refer to this vehicle as an extension of "the Mustang family".

The nose and tail are indeed unmistakably derived from Mustang. Some would point to lines in the wings and along the roof as well.

That's all. Nothing more.

Nobody is dialing 999 and shouting, "This full-sized crossover can't be mistaken for a low-slung 2+2 coupe!"

You're correct to note that, hey, this thing is not the usual product launch. But, then, a pioneering BEV in the hottest segment of motoring today (the SUV segment) can be nothing if not business-as-unusual.

Which leads to one more very important attribute:

Mustang is not just a name and a couple of design elements. It's also a certain spirited approach to motoring -- and one that is steeped in more than half a century of the American experience. It is this attribute, above all, that Ford hopes to cultivate in its new battery-electric crossover.

I'm assuming you work for Ford's marketing department. If not, then it's their loss.
I'll say thanks biggrin --- but it's not clear that you're not taking the p***.

For what it's worth: I don't work for an automotive manufacturer or supplier.

A couple from LA auto show today...
Wow! You've already seen it in person then.

How did the shapes and various lines of this car strike you?

Could this be the Cayenne "for the rest of us?"

Any look at the interior? Scratchy plastics?

TBH looks and feels like a Fat Stang. Lines and Cues from S550.
A busy day today as it’s industry day, so lots of networking and presentations... Marketing people..
It’s more of a Macan size.. 20” rims on the GT and 19” on the premium.

I wouldn’t say it’s a striking car, but for those who either love the Ford brand or want a semi affordable BEV Mustang.

I see this not as a dumbing down of the mustang brand, but a lift of general Crossover EV lifted by the Mustang name.
GM tried with the Volt and Bolt, but have never made big sales. In Euroland, it may be an easier transition or acceptance to HEV / BEV, but to take a middle American owner from ICE to Full BEV without some level of Brand to support will be a mountain to climb

A lighter traffic day tomorrow at the show apparently, so may get the opportunity to get in and around a bit more.
Interesting details and illuminating commentary. Thanks.
