Consider the BMW M3 E30 and imagine the outcry on here is BMW released it today.
A crappy little 4pot with just over 200Bhp, a terrible 5 speed box, a slow 0-60, no crash protection and zero toys.
It would be slated
So what other great cars would the pub bores hate if they were made today

Isn't that totally missing the point?
The e30 M3 IS a great car and always will be. It's pure folly to try and directly compare performance to a modern car though, and it's equal folly to compare the driving enjoyment of a new Vauxhall Corsa to that of a 1960's sports car.

Interesting one. If we'd missed the Defender out as an envolutionary step and revisited it in a world of Evoques, Range Rovers and Cayennes it might not go down so well. The Jeep Wrangler is perhaps the next closest thing to the Defender and that remains a rarity over here.Chris71 said:

I was thinking it would be revisited in a world of Hi-luxes and Navaras...different market.Cheers,
