That is the car that your mad uncle had when you were a kid, you cant remember the name but it was achingly cool and sporty back in 1977 when you were six years old, you had a ride in it and you felt like you were in a racing car and it was the most exciting thing ever to happen to you, fond memories and then your mum drags out the photos in 2011 and it comes flooding back and you realise that exotic sports car was a hideous kit car with an interior fashioned from a Transvestites coat and powered by a Transit engine.

Childhood memories are a bit like waking up after being drunk for eight or ten years, best not relied on.

Makes you wonder hwo buys stuff like that, also the Dutton things and that Metro based Audi TT knock off from ten years ago, uauslly half finished and covered in moss, they turn up on Ebay looking spectacularly tragic, can only ever be a sympathy purchase.
I'm with you on this one. Surely every village had a nutter back in the 70s with a Cortina\Herald\beetle based kit car that looked overwhelmingly glorious to an 8 year old?

Nova anyone?

Bound to be loads of haters.... but I see potential. And at least it's different, hell it's a heck of a lot more interesting than some 2.0 Focus.
More interesting lol, more like a riskier way to invest money into something that looks like it was drawn by a 5 year old and 'trimmed' by someone who was in the grip of an LSD seizure.

Seriously, what a vomit inducing sack of crap!I really didnt think the Nova kit would be surpassed on PH this year but.........A few more for the bonfire;

Can we rename the thread to 'Cars Without Style'

Curious, but what car do drive exactly?

And no not generalising at all. I suspect such a car as this Hornet is not vastly expensive, from the front it looks a bit Lotus Excel and the back almost a DMC DeLorean. The interior is shocking and it evidently needs a proper paint job. But I think the overall shape of the car is quite good and certainly makes it look like a sports/high performance car - something you'd own for fun.

The only reason you hate it is because it's different, it doesn't conform. You then lable this and dress it up as though you're being superior by claiming hate hate hate.

I'm not asking you to like it BTW - we all like different things. smile

I think it has potential, I mean, if a Pinto fits, surely a YB can be squeezed in for a mental grin factor hehe

Rip out that horrid interior and dash though, OMG, that is fowl.
The lower front valance doesn't help the front end one bit. Without that, I don't think it would be as bad. The rear end is "ok" though.

Oh, and ditch those horrid MKV 'tina door mirrors and the steering wheel.

I'm a bit confused over the partial frameless windows lol

By the time you have spent out on a new engine and factored your time you would be better off investing in something like an Eclat or Wedge.

You know what, I was a little bored yesterday and was looking for obscure albums to put onto MP3 yesterday. I put Jerry Reed's greatest hits and drove into work this morning with "Eastbound and Down!" in my Mini, which is a bit far from the Snowmans Peterbuilt I know but, some classic banditness.
