Looks less Hyundai Coupe than the Toyota so that has to be a good thing!

This! - It looks good but it does look to sit unusually high for a sports orientated model!

Hopefully this is another indication that they've gone for handling over looks and fashion, and have resisted the temptation to ruin the handling by fitting stupidly stiff springs.

Looks like a Peugeot. In good way though
It doesn't (IMO) but I know what you mean, its that grille with the protruding bumper bit isn't it?

TRD Coilovers are on the options list for the GT86 biggrin

I prefer the look of this to the Toyota - just a gut reaction without even analysing why.

How does that help? Unless there's a choice of different springs.

looks the same as the gt86 at the back (less the spoiler).. has the cr*ppy peugeot thing going on at the front (bump strip in its mouth.. for the idiots that cant drive).. same power as the toyota, but 40kg heavier... and not a single moan!..

i guess the PH majority are badge snobs then are they?! its Subaru, therefore it must be cool. its Toyota therefore its sh*..

EH? It's exactly the same! Look again.
Front and rear are subtly better on the Subaru - less pointess angles everywhere. A good thing should I ever need to make that decision, given my previous relationships with all the godawful Toyota dealers round here.

you are aware of what coilovers do, yes?

With them being an expensive option, its safe to assume they will be height and dampening adjustable.

Looks ok, how are this and the Toyota going to compare to the 370Z? Similar price, similar layout, a lot less power. The 370Z wasn't exactly a big seller in the UK, are these two models going to prove people are now buying style over performance?
the co2 could play a surprisingly big part in this. a large amount of sales of this kinda car are company car users. the 370z is in the top band for BIK, so if you're a 40% tax payer (which most people with a 30k company car probably are), you'll be spending £4200 in tax alone each year. This might be in the 19% band (based on being a bit more than the new 118i), which would mean (lets say a 25k list price, as the 28k hasn't been verified anywhere) means £1900 in tax. so just on tax, over 3 years, the toyoburu is £6900 cheaper - and that's before you introduce the lower list price (which will probably save another couple of grand). Residules will play a big part but who knows what they'll be.

We had a long thread about this a few weeks ago where everyone was overjoyed and celebrating the "£20K and about 1000kg" headline figures, I was roundly flamed for saying there wasn't a hope in hell of either and its be more, heavier and slower.... lo and behold- it is £30K (at least) and 1200kg (probably bone dry and of course without passenger, so 1400kg on the road)

I like the idea of a nice rear drive coupe as much as the next PH but where does all this Subaru-fanboy naivity come from?

No doubt Toyota have the contracts done up tight as a ducks ar*e and Subaru will have to price match for a good while after launch before either can make price and spec changes- again, where is the idea that it'll be otherwise coming from? Its just not realistic! (sadly)

All that said, it'll have been modded to within an inch of existance within weeks by the Japs, no doubt a 600+bhp version will be tearing up Youtube before the paints even dry :-)

Where does the 30K figure come from? People seem to just be picking numbers out of the air.

Much better looking than the Toyota, small changes add up to quite a bit in my eyes.

Nice looking machine now, sweet handling and a motor with character, apart from what might be a larger price tag than first stated what’s not to like?

Looks a thousand times better in white than it does in brown/orange.

However the front looks like the pug RCZ with that black plastic bumper part in the grille.

I'm getting a bit of the 'Kings new clothes' syndrome here.

Are people liking the white version because it will have a Subaru badge on it?........

Ah bum, now I see them next to one another, I prefer the Toyota...thanks gut reaction. I'd take that stupid badge off though, it's positively juvenile.
