Mazda 5.

Go and drive one, they're very nice and actually pretty nimble for the size of them! biggrin

Not seen you on SN for a while !
Some VERY odd and rather nasty stalking stuff occurred (not actually on SN) so laid low for a long while. Still in touch with a few by PM only.

If I really HAD to get an MPV, I'd go S-Max every time.

Really, PM me more !

Funny, feeling left out as I never get any stalking, funny how people get, you could be controversial but its all part of the fun/banter, I think people take it too seriously.

When someone finds your company website and posts up a pic of your wife (we co-run a little company - her pic is on our website) you know they have got it bad. I got really worried for a while - I do REALLY pi55 some people off, often without meaning to but sometimes totally on purpose (I got banned from "DetailingWorld" recently completely on purpose...!).

All good with you?

not very practical and a bit noisy, but not boring, either.

Phase 4 or 5 Espace are both good but seats are not as versatile as fold-flat ones and you can't depend on their reliability.
If it's only 2 kids an estate should do and is easier to drive and park.
I'm pretty pleased with our 2004 Zafira - it's kind of between the two and the boot has plenty of space as we do't use rear seats often.S Max or similar may be better fo driving enjoyment, however.

Diesel sports are good, great handling for what they are & nicely geared unlike the petrol ones.

In answer to your original question - no.

Unless you have 3+kids, keep the golf and carry less stuff around wink

C-Max is pretty good, we bought one when we found out we were expecting twins.

I also bought a Discovery 2. Which is much better, to be honest. If you want a job done properly...

What about a Fiat Multipla? Surprisingly nice to drive, very well built and extremely practical i.e you can remove the rear seats.-

If you're considering a 3 series or a Touran, why not some interesting 4x4's?

eg Mazda CX-7 :

Pretty impressive performance for a 4x4 and owners seem to love them.

We have 2004 Zafira GSI, its as much fun as an MPV can be as well as being a bit different to all the diesels out there and its well within your budget.

Bloody awful cars, though.

Not had a GSI, but had some kind of petrol and some kind of diesel as rentals. Really poor effort.

I had an S-Max rental a few months ago in Titanium spec which was excellent. A great steer as well and with the full media pack it had all the goodies you need including blue tooth connection for music from the iPhone. Nice torquey diseasel motor and 6 speed box meant averaging 40mpg despite being driven like a rental. I was well impressed although I felt like an employee of Addison Lee....

Why not just get a decent estate (Mondeo / Passat??).

My folks used to have a great car for carting the 3 of us kids and all of our gear around the length & breadth of the country back in the 1980s, Ford Sierra I think it was called - I'm pretty sure they do a modern equivalent wink

How did the world cope before dull vans with side windows were invented?

We sat in the boot... and were usually wedged in so tightly that there was no chance of flying through a window in a crash!
