Can't you use any of the 5 cars you got listed in your profile to go see your partner ?

Politicians are paid enough such that the effects of their leglisation doesn't affect them.
They then bask in their self satisfied smugness, knowing that those beneath them have to conform to their leglisation.
Good gig for those that get it.

confused

I think the fact that politicans don't tend to use commercial vehicles is why this legislation doesnt effect them.

Don't we pay for their Ministerial cars, taxi fares, etc so they don't do private ???
Therefore we are shafted / pay for it in any way

I'm sure we do pay for it, but if they were using private transport I'm guessing they wouldnt be using a commercial vehicle to ferry themselves around in.

Sorry, I realise it's poor form not to criticise politicians round here at the moment.

More cloned vans on the roads as Mr-normally-honest-but-been-pushed-too-far sticks a newer reg plate from a compliant vehicle on his van.

If you can show that your vehicle isn't actually one of those effected you can get taken off the list.
They had my surf as 4x4 utility vehicle which would have been charged £100 a day, a quick letter and a phone call and I had it changed by the DVLA to be an estate car and it was sorted.
No more £100 fee for me.

It might be a 4wd vehicle, but it's also the same category as a Q5, X5, XC90 or any of the other 4x4 cars or estates that people own.

There's a problem with bad categories on the charge that don't necessarily reflect the purpose of the vehicle – iyswim.

Not sure if this will help the OP though.

Yep. A difficult position that I wouldn't want to find myself in. Deep in a financial crisis and it just gets harder for a lot of trades...

I beleive that at every exit point on the 25 ,into Londineum ,a frigging camera monitors every vehicles reg no . Anything Diesel that isn't on their F data base then gets an automated £ 1,000 fine ?
No, not all of inside the M25 falls within the LEZ. There's a map linked in my last reply.

I must admit, I didn't expect the area to be so extensive.

£100 a day..?!
Are they insane? how is that going to help the economy?
Well it doesn't help businesses are just trying to make ends meet, and that can't afford new vans.

I think the argument was that a commercial van is driven around all day from site to site, whereas a personal car is often just driven to and from work.

So even if the personal car is a bit more smokey than the commercial van it's driven less and puts out less nastiness over a day or week.

Well I didn't vote for them ....

Just been quoted 3 Grand to have my Van " converted " so it meets this lots emission target . What a frigging joke ! From Jan I can no longer venture within the M25 else I give this lot £100 per day of my hard earned . My vehicles value has now hit rock bottom and no help from this bunch towards the 3 grand I have to somehow find , or see if a 2003 Engine can be fitted . Anyone else being shafted ?
whilst I sympathise that it's a big chunk of money to find in the current climate and despite the fact that I don't entirely agree with the LEZ why have you left it so late to do something about it?

LEZ signs have been up for at least three years on all main roads into London so it's not as if it's been introduced over night

It's only very recently that most of the fitters/suppliers of the filters have actually had any available - chap next door to me has been ringing around for the best part of a year to get his camper fitted with one and nowhere has the parts available. It's been a shambolic affair from the start.....

What van is it (couldn't see it in your profile) and have you had a look to see how much an engine from a Euro 3 compliant one would cost?
