Keeping it semi-sensible it has to be a Range Rover TDV8 and a Caterham/Elise/Boxster S depending on how much comfort and practicality you want from the 2nd car.

At the more budget end of the scale probably an E39 and a Z3M should be do-able for £10k, although I used to run a Mondeo and Elise on a similar budget a few years ago.

I'm thinking about this for next year. My ideal combo is:

E65 7 Series (745i / 750i etc)
Caterham

Someone on here has an X300 XJ and a Lotus Elise. Make the XJ a classic and you've got a winner (I reckon).

For me the FFRR wouldn't work due to not having 7 seats.

Therefore a Discovery would fit the bill nicely, plus a Caterham.

One down, one to go...

I currently have three cars owned (but also a budget)

1. Alfa 156 2.4JTD, used for family duties and the tip run. Wifes car.
2. Clubman Cooper S, used as company car, small family jaunts, weekends away.
3. Mazda Eunos - fun weekend toy, on a budget!

Money no object

Some RR of some description
Supercar of some description (F1 might be ideal to take wife and daughter out together?)

Ford Mondeo TDCI 130 - Comfy, quiet, spacious, lots of toys, cheap to run
Caterham 7 - noisy, huge fun.

The only thing they have in common is they both use 6 speed 'boxes.
