Its probably worth a grand on a good day with a tail wind. £300 repair.

Why not?

I've had 4 MK4 Astra's and also like them. Rather than checking out spares to fix it, find some Astra wheels with winter tyres on and buy those. Then look at repairing it. No good fixing the car if you slide again and do just as much damage, or even more?

Guys advice required, had a huge snow fall last night which made the roads dangerous but I had to use the car to get to work at curries cause im the opening manager and didn’t want to have the other workers outside waiting in the cold.
Seriously? You can't spell the plural of where you work?

Sadly, I think your car would be written off.

Honestly i wouldnt bother, just polish scratches out as best you can.

Spend the money making sure the cambelt is ok as well as the waterpump and tensioner.

Probably be an idea to get it out of the hedge before making a pronouncement on respray costs?

Op up until a week ago I had a 52 plate astra convertible, OH bump the back end about a year ago leaving a big scratch on the bumper and a dent on the lip of the bootlid (and also a scratch on the passenger door due to someone keying it).
To have it repaired and sprayed we were quoted about £320 all in, but this was a family friend doing the work and I'm based in south wales so may be abit more where you are.

Just wait for a snowplow to come along and shove it entirely to the hedge and your problems are solved

Pictures of the damage would help.

Not a fan of Astras but that looks clean and tidy. You know the history of the car so why not spend £300 on that rather than buying another Astra that might be in need of £300 of other work (probably sensors!!) down the line.

Interesting that you have put wood in there as most people go the other way and remove it and put what ever the sports models have. Is there a cover missing on the steering column?

But it's a diesel judging by the picture of that interior.

In which case a can of petrol and a match would be the cheapest fix for it.

OP, have you read the winter tyres thread.

Oh and you need some of this for the steering column trim

Weird thread.

Doesn't look like a bad accident to me and the car is worthless. Just drag it out the hedge and get back to driving it.

Other than that I can't estimate what I can't see.

I may have missed something, but is there actually any damage to the car at all? I.e. broken bits and deep scratches?

If it is just light cosmetic scratches some polish will get it out - a few layers of AutoGlym super resin polish and some nice wax on top should at least hide it.

Yeah you definitely need some of these. The videos of them working are amazing and judging by the snow in your first picture they would have been perfect.

I'm kidding by the way and the thread commenting on these is hilarious.
