There must be a point for a 2 wheel drive car on normal road tyres, where extra BHP won't get you any quicker?

Im thinking in 0-60 times only, but if red victor magically had an extra 1000bhp. I don't think it would get to 60 any faster.

Sorry just going off on one.

Depends on how you define "normal" tyres, which two wheels are drive, and what the weight distribution is. I'd guess pulling 1g should be easily possible in a RWD, rear engined car on relatively normal road tyres, which is about 2.7 seconds?

If I did a full bore standing start in my MX5, it would have a noticeable impact on the Earth's rotation. True story.

BMW even consulted me when building a certain performance diesel.

Theoretically 5.7.

In reality, I have a little more power than stock, but more important than that is the (thankfully) over zealous traction control cutting power - haven't been brave enough to put it off yet boxedin

On paper, 5.1 seconds in the MR2. I've never launched it that quickly, out of sympathy for the car, but it does feel as though that would be quite possibly on a dry day. It's usefully quick off the line though, which is always a plus on the commute.

The Panda will do it in 9.1 Seconds, so slightly faster than a Mk1 Mx5 1.6, and the 325d will do it in about 7 seconds.

I think a lot of people would be surprised how much slower their car is than quoted or they think it is.

I think that depends on the car I question but as a rule of thumb not many cars can achieve the quoted 0-60 say of a set of traffic lights.
