50 miles a day?

Just get an eco snotter and a toy for the weekends.

I've a really tatty Kangoo van that gets me 55 mpg (and it's a hoot to drive in traffic) on my run and a Z4 that comes out on a sunny day.

Have you thought about a BMW 330D or a A4 2.7TDI?

Audi has about 170bhp and the E46 2004> 330D has 204bhp.

At least that would tick your power and economy demands. For 6-7k bith will have done in excess of 150k though.

Audi S3 would be worth a look too!

as already suggested, the megane r26 is a great car and they are at a good price now. maybe not as nice inside as a gti but easily a match performance and handling wise.

if you need good economy then there's the megane dci175 - basically the goodies of the r26 but with a 175hp diesel lump. they can be mapped to over 200hp and a lot of tork too.

Nope it wont, ive had a dull diesel for 3 years and now i drive less miles i fancied getting something thats relatively fun to drive but not as extreme on costs as a Evo or Scoob. Halfway house !
I'm in the same boat but I know I cant change to a fast petrol yet. infact I'm probably going the opposite way, looking to order a new Volvo C60 estate R-Design DrivE eco machine soon.

Yep, 26 of age and looking to get a Volvo, I take being "cool" to the next level smile
