RE: Geneva 2012: Bugatti Grand Sport Vitesse

Right.... were they not making a loss on every Veyron in the beginning stages?
One might think they have now reduced there production prices (over the lifespan of the now ageing ( ) veyron), they are now producing more and more models to now break even and even turn profits on the blighters!! Does anyone know if this is the case?
Also, youre right above somewhere... the originals where all bespoke...so surely more exclusive!

Detachable in that it detaches from the car at a certain speed well within it's capability? Wasn't the original car delayed because of issues with cooling because of the 1000bhp, and now they've suddendly managed an extra 20% and it's fine? I've never been a fan of the Veyron although I admire the engineering brilliance of it.

I don't like the standard Veyrons I thought they were ugly and boring but I actually like this one? Am I the only one? Now just to save up my pocket monies hahaha. I'm not a great fan of Blue but what they did here with it is actually o.k. ...... as Johnny from fantastic four would say "Flame on"
Edit - I really like this car, without the roof the lines from the front going back to the meet the top is awesome!

There is something that just doesnt Gel with the Veyron, McLaren F1 every time and that isnt some raging Xenophobia, the Bugatti just reeks of rich but probably clueless, has to have the absolute fastest and most expensive wheras the McLaren to me just says well heeled Petrolhead. The Bugatti is fairly ugly and a bit chintzy where the McLaren is dramatic in a restrained and functional way. The whole two tone garishness, its like a massively expensive clock of dubious taste that isnt hideous but isnt that appealing either.
Not to dismiss the engineering, its an amazing acheivement, it doesnt make me want it though, not like an F1, F40 or even, weirdly, the pangs of want like I had when I saw a pristine Capri Injection at the weekend.
Veyron is a 'Top Trumps' kind of car. Fastest, most expensive and over powered because it is heaviest. It's a bit insulting calling it a Bugatti. Personally I think it is a Volkswagen vanity engineering (like vanity publishing) project. Is it me or does the front end of the Veyron look abit "dated".
Well, it was first shown in 18 cylinder form in 1999 - so the shape has now been around quite a while : http://www.lambocars.com/archive/related/bugatti2....Still think it looks pretty good. The appeal is as much about the exquisite detailing as the shape itself.

Boxer - Strika - Grifter
Budgie - Tomahawk - Chopper
TT - R8 - Veyron
Does anything about any variant of this car make sense? Not even slightly - but I simply don't care and if someone wants silly wheels then good luck to em. All I really want is a chance to try one - even the slow one with the puny 1000hp - don't care, just want a go cos I buy into the Concorde thing - and I never went on that either!
Kinda of feeling let down that they didn't call it the Grand Supersport or the Super Grand Sport. Or the Grand Super Sport Squared or something really daft.
It's not a sports car so topless is a must, and finally it gets that vital 200hp that it was lacking compared to the hot Veyron.

With various Veyron’s currently cluttering up the numerous high end dealerships around the country what kind of fool would buy this when you can guarantee it would lose a minimum of £500k (probably more) as soon as you roll it out the showroom?
The Veyron currently has the worst record for depreciation of almost any car currently available. And even the ones whose value has dropped off a cliff, a number with less than 1000 miles on the clock, are not being sold; many have been on the market for over a year.
The Veyron, technical masterpiece it may be, is a rich man’s folly, and a ruiness second-hand proposition

It's weird that so many second hand Veyrons have such low mileage on them. Obviously it's not the driving costs as if you can afford it in the first place the cost of petrol is not going to scare you.
I suspect it is not just Bugattis but many supercars have low mileage. Why would somebody buy a supercar and not drive it?! Seems such a waste...
