No its a VW in a posing pouch

But it is expensive and fast so i shall worship it
What ever you say.

I personally don't care if its fast or expensive. I decide upon its merits.
Its beautifully built, supremely comfortable, very good looking and I suspect without VW's help it would not have been such a great car but at least YOU would like it, Eh?
trust me, there is no point arguing with thinfourth2; if it's not electric he won't like it. if it was electric and it had a 20 mile range, he'd adore it.
Look i have already said the BMWs are all AWESOME

I even have a little shrine set up to a BMW badge

What more do you want

So could you stop following me around
i see how that was very closely related to my post rolleyes

look - i already said there are loads of BMWs i despise

i don't like the 3er unless it's a 335i, a 5er unless it's a 6 or 8 pot petrol at least, and i don't like the new 7 much at all, the new 6 is too bland and far too expensive, i HATE all things X (X1/3/5/6) as well as the new 1 series. that's just current models. so...i actually dislike more than i like.

you just seem to hate anything that isn't electric.

one day, one day, we'll be able to have a debate with you actually throwing some logic into your arguments. I fear that may be an extremely long time away.

DB9 for me of those two though if I wanted a big GT I'd also look at CL63 AMG, Maserati Granturismo and Panamera.
Id say they are all out of his price range! These however...

I have been thinking about one lately.

I also have the crazy idea of using it to tow the racing cars around.
Bentley had one towing trailer with a computer in a few years ago, so I know its possible.

Lovely car loads of metal for the money, however it will have the running costs of a 130k car so be prepared.

I think you get about 15mpg out of these so roughly 42p per mile in juice alone.

So when people say 'it has £130k running costs' what exactly does that mean?

Also does anyone have a view on the reliability? Had a squizz on the web and cant see anything catastrophic but doesnt mean they arent a nightmare!

Its not if but when it has a problem, and when it has a problem it has the potential to be ruinous.

just look up the prices of tyres, brake discs/pads, how much for a service (lots of oil, and expensive oil at that; 12 spark plugs, lots of coolant etc)

My 911 has been utterly reliable nothing's gone wrong (well nothing that cost money anyway)

It has still cost me over £1 per mile to run, brake disks, pads, servicing, tyres, insurance, tracker subscriptions not to mention wear and tear items on an 8 year old car all cost a lot of money when the car listed at 130k when new, the car might be cheap but the running costs stay them same.

I can't share any experience of running a Bentley so I could be talking nonsense but I would wager it won't be any cheaper than running a 911, infact with the fuel costs it will be a lot more so as a guide £1-1.25 per mile probably isn't too far off the mark.

Lovely car though

Yes I would imagine they do, in fact lets face it, it would be ruinous!

(I wasn't directly comparing my car with the Bentley as the GT cost roughly twice the list of my carrera more of a guide to what "expensive" cars cost to run)

edited to add, there is a fair chunk of depreciation in my calcs.

i reckon OP should go for it biggrin

however, i think he should certainly have a few grand saved away when a big bill does come through.

+100 man points for going forward with it

I have had a 911 in the past and currently have a Jag STR so fairly used to high running costs.

Have a decent sized war chest so can handle any big bills, just want to get a sense of how many I am likely to get and if it is likely to blow up on me every 500 miles.

Both the Jag and the 911 havent been too bad on the costs side and I know this would be more but trying to gage how much more is the difficult thing I guess.

I love the comments by people that revert to the lowest common domination in an argurement that have no merit as all, as they have never driven one pr owned one, but clarkson one said it so it must be true.

The Bentley is a glorious piece of British built car that is a bargain. The same people that deride it call the Audi r8 a poor mans super car etc.. they just don't have a clue.
