What's your recommended procedure - just in case anyone else needs to know?
Really? How many and when was the last one?

Yet again not answering the question. Either this one or the previous one you keep ignoring.

Try looking at the statement you made that I highlighted that you still haven't answered.

Once you've done that answer my last two questions.

You really don't have the faintest fking idea what you're talking about do you.

You keep coming out with inane ramblings which have no bearing on real life with nothing to back them up. Whenever anyone asks you to explain yourself you go off on a tangent making up more bullst without ever explaining your original thinking.

Several times I have asked you to either answer questions or explain/quantify your statements. In every single case you have failed.

If you don't know what you're talking about, or can't reasonably back it up with sensible answers and legislation, then I suggest you just shut up.

Your ramblings are just as bad in SP+L.

You're going to have to identify this question which I'm supposed not to have answered
but you're not doing so well yourself biggrin

Was it to do with transferring a plate back to the previous keeper after someones bought a car?

Read my post and it's obvious. You haven't answered any of my questions.

You should only have the tiny slip
No. If you've got the new keeper slip then DVLA will say that the vehicle has changed hands and the new registered keeper retains the registration.

You need to send the whole V5c back.

saaby93 said:
You send <snip> a v62 to get the original reg back
What are you talking about?
You don't have to send anything off to apply for the original registration back. One will be allocated by DVLA on completion of the retention. Normally, but not always, it is the original registration.

How many times does it need to be spelt out to you.
Read the thread and answer, concisely, the questions you've been asked.

If you can't then just admit you don't know what you're talking about.

Well one of us doesnt know what hes talking about biggrin

go back to the beginning

The op had bought a car with a private plate on it which he needed to transfer back to the seller. I described how to do that

It's not the best way of doing things but thats where a lot of people end up

the preferred method is for the seller to have transferred the plate off to retention or another car and sold the car with its original plate or some plate that DVLA assigns
For that the seller would need to fill out a V317 send of his v5c and wait a few weeks for a new one to come through with the new reg
The seller can then sell the car to a buyer with no worries

If I'm right whats happened here is that the seller has sold the car with the private plate to the OP. The Seller should have posted off the V5c and given the OP the new keepers supplement slip
(But it looks like the seller has given the whole v5c to the buyer)

The OP could wait ages for the new v5C to come through get a V317 and assign/ transfer the plate back to the seller

Instead he can fill out a v62 and a v317 while hes with the seller and see page 1
Does that help?

Thanks for trying folks!

Was hoping to get it out before the last post yesterday but no such luck, so will call the DVLA again to confirm the very latest processes and get it sent straight out.

Will let you know if it helps resolve any disputes? wink

Have you got a brand new logbook v5C or has the seller given you the old one?
He might want it back to send off to DVLA but as I said there was a thread a week or so ago where the logbook was sent off with the V317 in one go ( I think).

I have the old one, the latter situation about sending old v5 with V317 is what the lady at the DVLA said to do when I called earlier this week but going to call back to be 100% sure given the confusion that seems to surround this process.

As I aid they may be working around what may have become commonplace
In theory the seller should have sent that off (isnt it a legal requirement) and you end up with the new keeper supplement for which you need a V62 and teh V317.
YOu have to sign the V317 as the current keeper and the seller as the person who wants the plate. Does the seller want the plate on another car or just a certificate?

Exactly what I have done biggrin and they want to keep the plate on retention (£105 fee already taken off cars price, plus more for new plates, insurance change e.t.c)

In theory you shouldnt now have the log book! Hence why you need to send off a V62 log book not present
However you do have the log book, it is present, only trouble is it's got the wrong keeper on it!

My guess is from the other thread that DVLA are used to this and just run with it.
If not you'll need the V62

Dunno whats happened to Roo today smile
Maybe he's trying to get his head around cows small or far away

Saaby, when you know what you're talking about and answer the questions I've repeatedly asked you to answer, and explain what the hell your drivel means, I'll come back from counting cows.

In the meantime I've got more cherished transfers/retentions/ new vehicle registration paperwork to quickly sort out over a glass of wine.

If I need your help, bearing in mind I do at least a dozen a month so it's highly unlikely, I'll ignore your advice.
