I paid 150 pounds for 10 screws to hold the rocker cover in place on my M3, and that was from an indy!

Just about any part for an R230 Merc SL. Everything seems to have been given a phone number price.

Auto dimming door mirror glass for example - about £400 yikes

That actually seems quite cheap - you do know how accurately manufactured these things need to be?

Non auto dimming is £60, and not full of oil that will inevitably dribble out onto the door skin.

Older BMW parts are very, very reasonable, compared to most, with an exception of Ford and Vauxhall perhaps.

That's a bit of a cheat though - it's done to get a good price in adverts, but all the cars come with it fitted as an "option".

Yes I understand the tolerances involved, but having also bought aftermarket bearing shells many times in the past I've never paid anywhere near that before! Having said that, I've just checked online and in general the aftermarket shells appear to be vastly more expensive than I remember!
