Heard a story once of a guy stopping at a crash to give his details as a witness, was sitting in his car giving the details to the guy who'd been hit when the fire service showed up, cue the fake whiplash and his car being beheaded.
He'd picked it up from the dealer brand new 2 days before.
If any crump tries that with me they'd need an ambulance after I'd finished kicking them out of my car.

Leaving aside any spurious whiplash claim scenarios, it's not exactly a difficult repair if approached in the correct way is it.

The driver must have decided to scam for whiplash and played up the whole "my neck hurts" thing.
Cue the fire service treating it as a spinal and off comes the roof.
^^^^ this 100%

One of the writers for performance VW bought an R32 engine from an almost brand new golf for transplant into a Golf Rallye - the reason it was available...

The owner of the R32 witnessed a minor RTA. The woman driver of one of the cars seemed shaken, so he offered her a seat in his car. By the time the ambulance arrived, she was complaining of neck and back pain. The fire brigade were called, and they cut the roof of his R32 to get her out!!

ETA: seems it's not an isolated case judging by the posts above mine. Mental note, never offer anyone who's been an accident, no matter how minor a seat in my car

I was about to say, surely a shoulder barge out the door when no one was looking would sort that out?

No idea what went on with that roof, but sites like that make macabre viewing.

And then you get this...

Top tip. If you ever go to a minor rtc, don't ever sit anybody in your car. There's a few police cars that have been turned into convertibles because of that.

Initially thought someone had purposely built a soft top, bit like this:

Looks like a small bollard impact on the rear; surely not enough for a whiplash claim?

This happened to me.

Had an accident and jumped out of the car fuming. Was collected by a lorry that neglected to give way.

Started feeling a bit off and a paramedic put me in their car.

Next thing I'm being attached to a spine board.

I could see the colour drain from the paramedics face.

When left alone whilst discussions went on as to what to do with me I managed to wriggle out of the car.

Funny old thing whiplash. I'd got out of the car as angry as hell at the idiot driving the lorry and just crumpled.

Mind you I had fractured t6 pretty well and took hell from the specialist for getting out of the car.

Have some nice pics of the break somewhere. Left a fragment of bone floating in my back.

If you've got a convertible then you've no need to worry about it being beheaded biggrin
In fact, it'd probably save the police and paramedics a lot of money if they used A4 convertibles or something, just lower the roof to get knackered passengers in/out hehe

If I was in my ST220 I'd rather wiggle out in immense pain than watch them carve it up.

I know someone who had a tt walk over the roof of their car. The damage was so bad that it couldn't be pushed out and they had to cut the roof off and replace it. £7,000 apparently. Since there is no apparent external damage to that BMW I wonder if its the same thing but due to the cost of the roof the insurance company has written it off.

T6 is not in your neck so how is it whiplash?

I had a vandal do that on my previous car. The bigger dents I was able to push out from underneath ( so that I could sit in the car without hitting the headlining), but there were creases in the roof's metal work, so a new roof skin was needed. £1500 for the lot (and the roof skin itself was only £300).

Luckily, the mug was caught and identified on CCTV (!), so he had to pay for the damage smile

Can't believe the stories above of destroying cars for the sake of getting someone with possible neck pains out of the car though. Bloody joke redface

And you think you can only get whiplash in your neck?

The point was elsewhere. Go look for it.

What a very silly thing to say. Imagine the world of st that would come to the coppers/fire brigade if some silly bint who was making a big deal out of some minor whiplash 'injured' herself further because the fire people wouldn't cut the top off the car.

Doesn't surprise me at all, I'm afraid, that this is what they do.
