Stunning machine. I remember driving passed one parked up on the side of Lake Geneva. You couldn't have asked for a more fitting photo opportunity. Sadly we couldn't stop. Ok so it's dark mattslic green with the savanna tan interior:

But at 7,925 p/ex welcome I reckon you'll be in a 911 within budget.
108k miles with the factory sports exhaust, I'm tempted myself!

£4000 for a 1960 Ford Thunderbird, bit scraggy looking but so what?
ETA: just saw the rest of the pics :-|
Probably still would though, as a wee project.

Come on 300, you were born for this thread. Give us a few more leftfield suggesions... Sorry have not figured out making a link to Carandclassic.co.uk website, search Jaguar XJSS, 1979 vintage,3.6 straight six cabriolet, and yes there is an extra S in the title, I know it is over budget £9995 but you wont see another one very often, ticks most of your required boxes, if I had the dosh I would be round there.

Too good usually does not equal too good.
there is no catch!Too good usually does not equal too good.
same as all cars you buy the best one you can and watch out for the marques known problems.
then you travel in probably the most fun for the money car around
they sound wonderful and every drive is an occasion
buy one, you know you want to

Things like the S-Series and the smaller engined Chims are fundamentally pretty reliable as specialist cars go. Obviously the big manufacturers can spend huge amounts of money on detail engineering and quality control that low-volume manufacturers can't, but basically most of the old school TVRs are a fairly stock Rover V8 or Ford V6 mounted to a well proven drivetrain on a simple backbone chassis.
Small niggles aren't unknown, but big issues are pretty rare. Insure it as a classic and don't do too many miles (at ~20mpg for a Chim) and they can be remarkably affordable cars to run.
So there's not really a catch.
